I'm looking at setting up an air band feed, which I will probably just run off this Pro-2054 I have that's unused and the discone I'm using for my public safety feeds.. they're all going to be moved to our club's tower which is on a hill and is LOS to the nearest airport. It's not a huge airport, nor am I really near any "busy" airports, so I'm debating on adding ZID frequencies for the area to the mix. Is that asking for too much out of an air band feed?

I don't think that's too much personally, especially if the local airport isn't very busy. Just remember that picking up the controller side of the conversation is generally difficult for an ARTCC.

I wouldn't think so, since our area isn't that busy. The tower site is on the highest hill in the county, which isn't saying much, but it should pick up the transmitter side pretty well up there. I'm in the eastern part of ZID so Charleston/Portsmouth area transmitters are all I'm going to be adding.

The two ZID low altitude frequencies from Portsmouth would probably work. The three high altitude frequencies from Charleston can get very busy and would probably be to much on one radio if you are going to include them with the others.

I'd stick with frequencies you can hear the ZID controllers on. Do you think you will be able to hear the controllers from the Charleston RCAG site ?

I should be able to, even though I'm about 60 miles from Charleston itself. Being up on a hill, I should. I may go up today and take the stuff up there & see what I get.
