Anyone have a file for Centennial? I'm using the 396XT

Have been looking on here and just can't find anything with regard to police or fire for Centennial. Everything seems to direct to Arapahoe county or other services like animal control and the airport. Any help greatly appreciated, thanks!

That's 'cause Centennial doesn't have a fire dept or cops. The city contracts with the Sheriff and fire is covered by Cunningham and South Metro.

Ok, perhaps I'm asking the wrong questions :)

What channels do they use? Centennial was out at my business today. Cop cars say, "City of Centennial Police". I called them regarding some vandalism and had Arapahoe in the scanner. The call never came over the scanner on Arapahoe county so I'm wondering how these guys chat.

From what I understand, Arapahoe county sheriff's office provides law enforcement coverage for the city of Centennial. So, the patrol cars you saw should have been Arapahoe county cars with "City of Centennial" towards the rear fender of the car. Also, you should have heard them on ACSO's channel 1. Not sure what series they are though. Ill see if I can find a picture of their cars.

Check that link. The picture is kind of hard to see but on the back door it says "City of Centennial". Also, there are links on the bottom of the page for the different Precincts, one of which covers Centennial.

You're correct Centennial does contract with ACSO. Actually pieces of Centennial are covered by all the precincts except for #5 and #8.

Yes, the Sheriff did put those "City of Centennial" stickers on some of his cars. Again, it's a contract, so that's done to allow the residents to see where their city tax money is going. (If you've ever been to Los Angeles, the LA County Sheriff has "City of ...." stickers on some of their vehicles.) There is no separate dispatch for these cars, nor are there separate callsigns. I see one or more in my unincorporated neighborhood periodically.
A similar situation: the red Rural Metro "Aurora" ambulances. Same principle, a contract with a city to provide services to that city.

Whatever happened to the idea of the city of Centennial getting their own department like lone tree. That was the rumor awhile ago since the county bills them at such a high rate.

The last I heard was that Centennial couldn't justify switching because it has the lowest crime index of all metro cities so they signed a new contract and ACSO is so popular (not sure how long contract is). Also ACSO would have their area cut by more than 1/2 population-wise.

As a Centennial resident I am glad they did this - ACSO has always been good for when I've needed them. What's scary about Centennial is there was discussion of going to a PRIVATE CONTRACTED law enforcement agency since they like to contract out everything (see public works). That scared me. Not to mention probably wouldn't be able to listen to them anymore. Imagine Wackenhut PD.

Anyways there is synergy with the relationship right now. There are a lot of unincorporated patches mixed into Centennial borders (ie Arapahoe High School, old Comcast Property on Dry Creek etc) and it would be difficult to patrol them with 2 agencies.

Centennial Cars are designated with a "1" before the callsign...including the Traffic 1Tom cars

But I'd hardly know it because they rarely say 1 or 2 before the Adam, Baker or Charlie - usually I just hear 'Baker 21' or 'Charlie 41'.

nah they do....I cruise around with them punched in my radio all shift

Listening to it closer you're right. Some cars say '1' before their identified and some don't (ie Baker 81 but 1-Charlie-41). The non-Centennial ones don't. Didn't realize that before. Why do they do it? Shouldn't be overlap at all so why the need to differentiate? Also the Centennial cars go to call in the pockets of unincorporated so do they drop the '1' for those calls?

Anything in 8 wont..unless they run a split district car ie. A78...B78 or C78. They dont drop the 1 for regular county calls but if you listen when they dispo a call....they'll say County CR, City Assist...or Cenntennial CR, County assist.

Also 5 doesn't have overlap. How about district 4 though since there is a lot of Centennial and also unincorporated in that district? Is it a Centennial or a county car? And if there is no ambiguity then why have the '1'? Just curious as I never paid attention to this before!

yeah 5 is far from Cenntennial so those cars are strictly County cars. 5 and 8 are the only districts that dont touch the city. Most LE contracts are based on "patrol hours", so probably by having the designator shows that the car is on "centennial time" and not county. One example is weld county. although they still respond to Hudson and Keenesburg for calls, Only the CT cars are on "Town" time. Bennett is the same way with Adams County, although they have no designator, but they are required to have so many hours of in town patrol time.
