My wife is up in the city and reports a large header from a fire somewhere south of I 40 probably east of I 35 ... ideas?

Can't seem to tune in OCFD on my scanner ... Crystals must be dead.

I was wondering what that was...I saw some smoke east of I44/I40 today around 4:15PM
From my viewpoint, I could not tell how many miles away it was, but it still made me curious =)

They lost a lot of animals but also saved a lot. I think they mainly had snakes, rabbits and birds. All the ones they saved were moved into an empty warehouse.

I have to prioritize my listening, since I'm usually listening to as many as 5 conversations at once. Did this start as a smoke investigation? I noticed that as soon as they called the first alarm, someone was on scene laying a line.

You're right, any time they can get some practice in it's a good thing. =)

Along the same timeline, El Reno had a large grass fire whose plume was visble quite clearly all the way from Tinker. It even showed up on Nexrad radar just east of Fort Reno.

Yeah I saw the El Reno fire....wasn't a lot of traffic on ERFD's channel though. We were released from a fire east of Cashion because we all thought that was in our district or in Piedmont. We got to Council and realized it was WAYYYYYY west. Piedmont went looking for it also and figured out how far away it was.
