I finally got my mobile install done.

I could not find a mounting system that I liked, so I custom made a radio console for my scanner and cb.

I designed the radio box so that the scanner and cb just slide in and out. I am currently running a 1/4 Wave for my Pro2096 and an antennex low profile that I use when I take along on of the hand helds and a wilson 1000 for the cb. . I will send pics when I get the antennas set up the way that I want.

That's a very nice install. Most of the time "homemade" consoles look awful. This, however, is pretty snazzy.

VERY NICE JOB!!!! It also shows others that you can have a nice, clean set up when you drive a stick shift. AWESOME JOB!!

VERY clean! I love to see installs like this. It's worth it to shuffle through the crap when you see an awesome set up like this. Thank you!

What did you use to make the console?

I started out with 2 x2 stock and figured out the length and what kind of angle to clear the shifter and built the base frame. Then I cut the uprights and built two slots.

I Then covered the interior of the frame where the radios will slide in and out with some fabric and foam just like your headliner material. Closed it up with some thin plywood and used a good quality naugahide to cover.

The detail was in finishing the face part of the box, using trim molding and keeping the lines straight.

Great install, very professional looking. How did you fasten it to the floor? Can it be removed for seat adjustment to get behind the seat? I have an automatic ranger and made a bracket that bolts to the seat cupholder strikers and comes from underneath the cup holder and will move with the seat as it is adjusted, also made it a quick install/release so I can remove it quickly, I use it with a yeasu ft8900r ham rig, remote speaker located btween high back buckets just below rear sliding window. Will send pictures sometime. Again great looking install. The scanner will be awful busy tonight!

Sorry did not make notes on the deminsions. What I would do in your case, just figure out how long you want the box to be, and then figure how deep you will need it to hold your radios. Then you can cut your uprights at an angle. I recall that mine was at a 38 degree angle.
