Any reason Fredrick County, has a ton of static on their system? I get it on both my Uniden, and my Neighbors Radio shack scanners.

Frederick County's TRS is a bit spotty in regards to reception in several places within the county. Once outside the county, specifically south in Montgomery County, I've experienced some severe reception issues with all of my scanners. Ever since they added the additional frequencies, its been like that and that's been since the late 90's I think or possibly 2000/2001. That's my personal experience with the system, my radios, and antennas--both mobile and base.

I noticed the static last night while driving back to Hagerstown on I-70 from Laurel.

It was on the County PD talkgroup mostly, but on the Fire Dispatch talkgroup as I approached Frederick....

I have noticed it more in the last week than anytime before......

I have a P-97 and scancat lite file for Frederick, Montgomery, and Loudoun county. They all seem to work well for me however I live right in Frederick. I haven't noticed any issues if you want a copy of my files let me know. Some of Freq have to be put on ATT to avoid static good luck

CelticRavenVA I have to agree with atlong, once you get outside of the county it can get spotty, have the same problem where I am and it comes in clear sometimes and sometimes more static than one can stand and the system is not able to be heard.

I live in Walkersville and I've noticed with my old RS Pro-94 and the RS Pro-2055 at my rescue station both seem to have problems. I'm not sure if it's static or interference. I just got a Uniden BCD396 a little while ago and I have a BC 795D in my vehicle and i have not had problems with these.

Chris, I would imagine you would be able to listen to the fire side, both the dispatch VHF-high channel and the 800 stuff, as long as your scanner has the right capabilities.

Power lines and structures play their part too. There is a section of Rt. 85 between Crestwood Boulevard and I-270 where my trunking reception basically drops 80%.
