My dad passed away last year from cancer in the bones and the only thing that I knew that was very important to him and listened to it religiously was his Realistic 2021- 200 channel 10 bank V/UHF AM/FM Direct Entry programmable scanner. He left it to me, Please anybody that has any active scanner frequencies for St. John's and Avalon, IT WOULD BE GREATLY APPRECIATED,

The page linked above is likely your best bet. Most agencies are moving to (or have already moved to) digital trunked radio systems (especially police agencies which are encrypted) so unfortunately that narrows the scope of what can be monitored.

Cell/cordless phones haven't been able to be monitored for many years. Close range maybe the odd baby monitor or drive thru intercom but those too are mostly digital now days.

I guess there is no Fire Department frequencies, Waterfront Hospital, prison's etc

I've been scanning the Taxi frequencies that are listed in RR database for a while and have heard voice on only one.
It was Executive Taxi but sounded more like a film crew than a Taxi. They used to be great for road reports in the winter.
I was wondering if anyone else has any luck picking them up?

Hey, all the taxi repeaters have been turned off, as the companies now use iPad's in the cars for dispatching.
Executive Taxi is still a registered company and the equipment is still in place, but from what I can tell they are no longer a service. They have agreed to let a film company (I believe Hudson and Rex or Son of a Critch) use their repeater for film work.
