I've owned a Yaesu FT-7900R for about 4-5 years now, and mostly use it as a base station connected to a power supply and external antenna.
Recently, I noticed whenever I enter a frequency into VFO mode, the radio would reset the VFO after a random period of time (little as 5 mins, as long as a week). If I left a repeater's settings in VFO mode and didn't want to add it as a memory channel, I would go back and find the VFO set to default 433.000. This usually happens after I've left VFO mode, played around in memory mode for a bit, then gone back to VFO and find it reset.

Another thing it started doing recently is resetting my scan channels and scan mode (default back to MEM when I selected ONLY). It doesn't always reset the scan channels, but when it does, I have to go back to each memory channel I want in the scan list and put the setting back. Getting tired of it.

I'm just wondering if anyone else has heard of this, or knows what could be the ailment? I searched Google with little helpful results.

I leave the radio on for extended periods of time, sometimes weeks, as a base station listening in to the local fire dept frequency. I do switch channels and talk on the ham bands from time to time, and scan local channels from time to time also. Every once and a while I leave the radio off for a few hours, and also run it off a backup battery from time to time in preparation for power outages.

Thanks!

Something I've discovered with Yaesu radios is that if you program memory channels and then make a change to a memory channel, that change remains only as long as the radio is powered up. Once you turn the power off and on again, the radio reverts to whatever is in memory. The only way to get around this is to write the change back into the channel so it becomes part of the programmed memory. This may be what is happening to you.
