The faceplate cable is a 6 conductor straight through cable, aka a telephone cable. really easy to make if you have access to a crimper. I made a "long" cable to fit where I have my RF deck and my face plate. My OEM cable was way too long for the distance.

Having lost one of those @#$ things too, I scavenged one from a wall mounted telephone. some have a shorty cable to make connections that work just dandy. Check the telephone accessory shelf at Wally World, may find just what you need.

Be DAMN careful doing that. Most of those phone cables are flipped, the Yaesu requires straight through. If you have the longer remote cable and find a short phone cable, aka a three line jumper since it has all six wires, compare it to the longer cable, you will see how the colors of the wires are for flipped or straight through then.

It's the same in the sense that it uses a modular connector. But you'll still need 6-conductor cable and 6-conductor modular plugs (sometimes called RJ-12). Regular 4-conductor modular phone cord won't work.

If you go into Radio Shack or WalMart look for a three line phone to wall mount jack jumper, i don't have one handy to check though and i think they might be flipped. The Yaesu cable if you hold the ends side by side the wiring is exactly the same. I just grabbed one here and its from left to right with the tab up, contacts down....

Brown
Green
Yellow
Black

Just make sure both are wired exactly the same and you will be ok. Not all places carry the six pin three phone line cords, they are generally used in business phone systems more then residential.

Yes just make sure you have 6 conductor wire and a six conductor jack.

When you crimp lay the line flat...................crimp one end with the little flap up and on the other end crimp the jack with the little flap down.

I am looking at mine right now............the color order is a bit different than kb0nly's but I am using an old FT7100 cable :)

I have one of the Yaesu cables in my hand and no Yaesu to use it in. I'm just down the road in Winston-Salem. PM me with an address and I'll send it to ya gratis.
