I plan to permanently put a FT891 in the car. I currently have it setup for temporary use of my 705 with the Little Tarheel II and the TuneMatic, it works well this way, but something permeant and out of sight with 100W is better. I'd like simple scanning of 6m and 10m repeaters with minimal fidgeting with the control head. About 2/3 of the repeaters won't be a problem because the follow a "standard" offset, but that leaves a good number of repeaters with odd offsets.

I've purchased the RT Systems software, and it only allows a global change of the offset. Under the recommendation of a friend, I looked into the quick split feature, which unfortunately only allows 20kHz max split, I need 240kHz and 600kHz splits. I've played with sending the RX to the B band and leaving transmit on the A band, but unless you select the B band after a transmission, you don't hear anything. My fall back is going to have two memories and flip back to RX, but in a mobile operation, that is less than ideal.

One mentioned the quick split works for them, but they have the MARS mod done. I have no need for the MARS mod, unless it does open the quick split significantly. Anyone have any knowledge if that is the case. It looks simple enough, but I haven't done any MARS mods on radios myself as I never needed it (a few I bought used had it done them already).

Any other ideas I'm not thinking of?
