Semper Fi Capstar. I'm not Floridian but way back when i was at the Sun n Fun show I didn't have a problem getting in. Civil shows are more lenient as a rule than military shows. However, I've been to 3 different military base shows in Florida including NAS Pensacola every year and have had no problems. As for the scanner law that's more dealing with scanners permanently (so to speak) mounted in a vehicle. Loose scanners as handhelds I dont think they worry about too much. I think you'll be ok.

Bring your scanner. I take mine to Eglins and Pensacola's air shows all the time. There is always plenty to listen too in the air and on the ground. My scanner has always saved me from traffic congestions when I arrive and leave the shows.

I agree. Bring your scanner. If you keep it out of sight on the road, and behave when you drive, you won't be bothered. The Polk County RR page has a link to the Sun-n-Fun freq info. You'll also want to program the City of Lakeland trunking system - they have ARF unit at the airport, you'll also hear maintainence and security. If it's a digital scanner, you should program the Polk County P25 system. Several disaster channels are used at the event as well as Tac 6 for EMS and any other county fire units that respond to stuff.

I plan on driving down there from Boston to attend a wedding in Brandon on Saturday. I plan on being there for the Blue angels practice show on Friday Afternoon, with the scanners and camera.

I hope for you guy's that the show will go on this coming Fiday. The airport got torn up with heavy winds and rain on Thursday. Some of the parked plane's got tossed around big time. Some injuries reported.
