From wikipedia & lapdblog.com:

The 21st Area (tentatively "Northwest") Police Station area will be formed from parts of the existing West Valley Area and Devonshire Area in the Operations-Valley Bureau. The 20th Area (tentatively "Olympic") Police Station area will be formed from portions of Wilshire, Hollywood and Rampart Police Station areas. Three additional police stations are planned for additions in the next ten years (2007-2016). One each for the South, West and Central Bureaus of the Department. Northwest to open in October 2008 & Olympic to open in November 2008.

This means new dispatch and simplex freqs (Channels) Explains the reserved channels 20 & 21.

There is also talk of splitting up the OPS Valley bureau into two new bureaus which would mean new tac channels.

Reserved channels 120 and 121 will become the so-called "simplex" (actually they're named "Enhanced/Fallback" and they operate either duplex or simplex) frequencies.

Any indication which Bureau "Olympic" area will be in, West or Central? While the current four-bureau system has only been in existence since 1971, the area covered by West Bureau hasn't had a new patrol division since Wilshire opened in March of 1926. The other three bureaus have all gotten one or more new divisions since 1966.

Of course, Hollywood is MUCH smaller than it was for decades; it used to cover Griffith Park, go all the way to Burbank and the 134, and I-5 to south of Los Feliz, covering what's now 11A1 and most of 11A51's areas; and south to Beverly Blvd into 7A3 and 7A7's areas (back then it was 7A33 and 7A29). And Northeast is a lot larger, and its boundaries shifted much farther west than before 1981.
