• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

Hello, everyone

Hope you guys are doing well and in good health. Everyone should take care of themselves and be safe since the COVID-19 outbreak globally and affect people much in the USA. But I think we all can get through it!

Let me bring you some good news on the G-Series...

The beta test of Trunking Free Scan feature on G-Series is just launched last week. If you have applies to be the beta testers previously, please go to check your mailbox right away! We have sent the V1.40 beta firmware version to you via the emails. Also, you can decide to upgrade your unit or not, because it could accompany with some risks when using the beta version pagers. If you're happy with the V1.20 now and waiting for the official V1.30, you can choose to not upgrade your unit.

Caution! Please read the items below before you upgrade your G-series voice pager to the V1.40 Free Scan Beta version.
  • Once you upgrade to the V1.40 Free Scan Beta version, you CAN NOT downgrade to V1.30, V1.20 or older firmware version.
  • This V1.40 Free Scan Beta version has included all the improvements and updates in the official V1.30 firmware that is going to be released in several weeks.
  • Trunking Free Scan feature only exists in the V1.40 Free Scan Beta version. The coming regular V1.30, 1.40 and even 1.50 will not include the free scan feature.
  • Unication will constantly update the V1.40 Free Scan Beta version if there occur any issues in the future.
  • If the users do not want to have the free scan feature in their pager anymore, they have to wait until V1.50 to update their voice pager.
For those who are selected, we also invite you with a link in the email to joining a private club to discuss this new feature on FB. There are many knowledgable people there and Unication's professional engineers help with your questions. Of course, this is optional to join this club.

If you applied to be the beta testers previously but haven't received the email, please feel free to PM me and I will check it for you!

Last, hope you guys enjoying the new features and let me know down below if you have any questions.

Thank you!

Steve

Great effort! The outstanding RF performance has been significantly improved by firmware tweaks. The new buttons for hold & block are perfect. Love alias list by UID too. I pulled a previously unknown system(and not on RR) out of noise (rssi-110) with free scan. This site is 25 miles away with one bar. Get good decode. My x36 is blind to this system.

I hope Unication will open this back up again for more testers. Especially now that so many of us have more spare time on our hands. This would really be a opportunity for Unication to get more thorough testing of this beta.

When is Ver 1.3 coming out? And what does this new "free scan" entail? Will you be able to scan trunk and conventional frequencies at the same time?

Just to confirm- if I upgrade to 1.40, I don't have to use this feature, right? I can upgrade to receive the other improvements, but still continue to use as before? Basically, Just want to make sure I won't 'downgrade' a public safety device to a consumer scanner.

We've been running the V1.4 beta test of the new firmware for weeks and we're going to release the official version 1.30 with some improvements and several NEW functions in a couple of weeks. In the coming 1.30 firmware version, it also supports hold/block features on the pager. Therefore, given that the beta test is almost finished, if you're not so rush to use the new functions, I recommend that waiting for the V1.30 is a better choice.

Thank you.

Thank you for the reply! I think that there are several of us out here wanting those features (even if they are still in Beta). I will paitiently wait for 1.30.

So on the V1.30 are you still getting rid of Trunking Free Scan that was on the V1.4 Beta? I really like that because I listen to 3 different sites with 8 different police departments on one knob without changing channels, then use the hold button when I hear something good. Great for slow times without changing zones.
