Just to let everyone know, about an hour ago all Gaston County FD's have officially moved to & are actively using VIPER. I am in the process of mapping all the Talkgroups and frequencies out using UniTrunker & DSD+. I will update the database once I can find all the info out. Feel free to add any info if anyone finds it out.

So far I've found 1 new unlisted TG. TG 18622 I is Animal Care/Control due to the unit #'s being AC-2, AC-11, AC-12, etc. and I have been hearing calls for vicious animals.

Okay, here's what I have for an up-to-date TG list I have found today... There may be an error or 2 for now I can only go by the traffic I'm hearing until a confirmation can be made.

18622 -- Animal Control (confirmed by hearing vicious animal calls all day, units are AC-1, AC-11, AC-12, etc)
18992 -- County Fire Ops (Heard 2 fire dept units speaking car-2-car)
18590 -- GEMS Ops (Gaston EMS Ops; Heard dispatcher give a "P" unit (Paramedic EMS unit) a back door code for gaining entry)
18505 -- ENCRYPTED
18624 -- ENCRYPTED

Any help would be appreciated... I am still monitoring the Control Channel data using UniTrunker & my scanner for the audio comparison.

Have you noticed if there is a pattern to the RID/UIDs by TG? That might allow us to ID some of the encrypted TGs. I believe they'll be six digits starting with 71xxxx and 72xxxx.

AK4FD...David, you may also want to adjust your sites to include the new Gaston simulcast Ph2 VIPER configuration, though the 536 may struggle-try it and see. Just updated the sites & TG's in my SDS100 & 200 (excellent) as well as my 996P2 & Whistler upgraded PRO668 (both doing good to great) and Gaston is hopping on VIPER tonight! I'll update my HP-2 in coming days, but figure it's not going to play well (if at all) between the simulcast & Ph2-may just have to stay with conventional sites that are in range with it. 73 de W4EV/Scott

It should be noted that the Gaston Simulcast is NOT Phase 2 it IS Phase 1. At this time no sites (ASR or Simulcast) are Phase 2 on the 1FC system.

Caught radio traffic with TG not in database 18641, with RID of 729975, had unit giving dispatch starting mileage for trip to Stanley. Did not hear call signs.

Caught a few, seem to be Gaston County Sheriff? RIDs of 721xxx

18504 - unit went 10-41
18620 - Cramerton PD?
18642 - jail ops? unit called central, reference going across
18643 - more jail ops? or surveillance, reference laying down
18644 -

All heard within an hr of switching over to ID search on my 436, they're pretty busy IDs.

18504 Could be the sheriff's office because their unit numbers are 61xx

I have some older notes showing:
18504 Mount Holly PD
18505 TAC
18506 TAC2
18506 TAC 3

But this is by no means concrete.

Right TGID, wrong system in my notes. They are pretty old and didn't really specify.

I can confirm that 18620 is a "channel 2" of 18561. Been watching and hearing units go between the two and every time they hit 18620 they say "...on two".

I loaded up Unitrunker on a computer and somehow I have these listed as:
18561 - GC Police / Towns Dispatch
18620 - GC Police / Town Operations

More specifically here is what I have in Unitrunker and I don't know where this came from. Some of it looks like UASI talkgroups but it was downloaded for VIPER. I should say that the date on all of these is 2017 which leads me to believe these once existed in the RR database for VIPER back then and were removed at some point. I'm not 100% sure but we can at least compare these to what is heard.

Where are you getting MHPD from? They're strictly on the UASI system.

Correct, I am stating that 18504 is their correct talkgroup but it's on the UASI system not VIPER.

AS for the list I posted, that is what you get when you download the VIPER system to Unitrunker. There are talkgroups that get downloaded that are not in the database online. I posted it because some of it might be accurate but is not listed currently. It's a starting point to see if any of it is correct.

Has the City of Gastonia Fire moved to Viper also or are they still on UASI?

If the whole purpose of the UASI system and Viper is improving interoperability, doesn't having the county on one system and the city on another complicate things?

It can but it also helps that city and county are all in the same dispatch center (excluding state and sheriff's office) so if needed, dispatchers can communicate and patch channels for communication. So before there was a vehicle fire on I-85 and a county station and West Meck were dispatched and West Meck didn't have viper capabilities so they patched Gaston Alpha and regional Fire 3 and had no issues
