I just set up a new account on GlobalTuners.Com for something different.

Using a receiver in St Margarets Bay, Nova Scotia I've got Radio Encyclopedia, Cuba on 530, and St. Kitts 555khz is BOOMING IN. How cool!

Nice diversion from the same old - same old.

Man, the path to South America from there is AMAZING. So much Spanish on the AM BC band and sigs on 60 meters are equally impressive.

That's it. I'm moving.

Global TUners: Vero Beach, FL ... 570khz Radio Reloj, Cuba - BEAUTIFUL COPY!!! wow I've never heard them that well. Ever.

THis is SO cool.

*OMG* 620khz, where local WTMJ is like S9+200db, I'm listening to Radio Rebelde, Cuba.

I gotta take a break before I have a heart attack.

Edit. OH! 4996khz RWM Russia time as heard via St Margarets Bay, Nova Scotia. Even with all this geomagnetic activity! Now, I gotta go in the basement to see if I can hear it here. How awesome.

Edit2: Oh YEAH. Can I hear Greenland 720khz before they sign off FOREVER? Will check tomorrow.

Yeah, I use it occasionally to check on stations I can't hear with my puny setup. Firefox works best for this, I've found - IE tends to crash when using that site for any length of time.

best regards..Mike

On a similar note, the Perseus network can be accessed if you install the Perseus software, and there are a few dozen Perseus receivers around the World.

I just checked the map and it looks like 57 are on at this time Perseus Servers Map - Microtelecom s.r.l.

For a while I had one of my R8500s on GlobalTuners. Usage was split pretty evenly between HF and VHF/UHF users, VHF/UHF users were mostly MilAir. There was one person or another on that thing probably 20 hours out of 24. Unfortunately I found that at least once a week someone would sign on and fall asleep, and the radio would set on a non-traffic freq for 6 or 8 hours until I disconnected them.

That radio suffered a casualty and was down for 6 months, by the time it was fixed the PC had been retasked, so it never went back on GT.

That St. Margarets Bay, Nova Scotia site is run by Nautel, the commercial transmitter company (close to where I live), so no doubt the radio is set up to hear whatever's there. It says the tuner is an Icom PCR-1000 and dipole antenna.

I just registered to the Global Tuners site (thanks), it may be useful to A/B compare with what my Sony ICF-SW55 and attic mounted Wellbrook ALA-100M rig can hear.

I say it's way more fun to get stuff with your own equipment that you set up yourself. Where's the fun in having your computer play someone else's rig?
I thought this was all about "DXing".

When it comes to posting logs I only use my own radios/antennas, but it's still fun to use remote receivers to listen to exotic ATC. Back in the day of DXTuners the site owner had a node on a farm in Rommele, Sweden with selectable EWE antennas and it would hear all sorts of things. Used to listen to Tripoli, Cairo, Kabul and Mumbai area control centers and it was fantastic. I saved a bunch of audio to a disc I'll have to upload sometime.

It's different. I take my radio and go to the local park to hear different things. People board airplanes and fly around the world to operate in remote locations. Now, I can do that from my home. COOL! The ability to hear stations that would be a 'once in a lifetime' catch from here at home and to hear what they sound like, can only enhance my ability to recognize them if they do come through my own radio's speaker. I see it as a tool to improve myself as a radio operator.

What's wrong with DXing from someone else's house? It's still fun!

Yeah I got ya I'm just an old fud with SWL. You will never bump me out of the stone age:) I'd probably pop an eyeball if my R71 ever crapped out on me.

k9rzz thanks for the heads up on GlobalTuners. I opened up an account and used a radio in Florida and was listening to medium wave radio in the Bahamas. That is so cool! I have got to get some outside Antennas setup instead of the wire in the house.

Okay, let's turn this topic on it's side a little bit. Post your interesting logings!

With a receiver in Greece: Tibet on 5240khz - very good signal, cool music and 4840khz All India Radio from Mumbai with Ravi Shankar type music. Awesome stuff. All around 1700 z.

So, I've been spending my dial time on the internet tuning other people's radio. (for shame!) But, after 30+ years of DXing here at home, it a nice change of pace.

With this revolution going on in Libya, I've been listening to their medium wave outlets and made a short video: YouTube - Libya Medium Wave Radio

Now that I've got one of my computers back to almost 100%, I'll be making more videos shortly.

But....
....this is only one step away from claiming a good DX catch by listening to their audio streaming......:)

It's no different than going over to someone else's house to DX. I can stop posting them here if you'd rather.

Your doing just fine K9. :)

My dad did this stuff from 55 to 59 for the Air Force. He has spoke of it at times, but never pursued it more then that. Well, I just got "bit" after getting my R75 and running on a 15 ft piece of speaker wire, till my EF-SWL shows up, and heard Taiwan radio.

I had it at my Dad's place so he could here the CW(?) morse code coming in. Made dad smile ear to ear.

I have been "watching" you guys here and about jumped out of my seat when the action was going on over in southern Cali the other night.

Now if I can talk the IT guys work into letting me use the software!! not.......:(

I wish I would have discovered this about 4 hobbies ago! LOL
