Where do you get your data to make a statement like this? I find RG6 listed specs showing it has about twice the loss as LMR400 and thats not including the extra loss incurred from the 50 to 75ohm mismatch. For example, LMR400 is rated at 3.9dB loss @ 900MHz where several mfrs rate their RG6 around 7dB loss @ 900MHz.
RG6 is an ok choice for the budget minded as long as you understand its a compromise.
If you want to get the most performance out of your 50ohm antenna system, LMR400 is the best commercially available low loss 50ohm cable for the $. For Scantennas and other 75ohm antennas with F connectors, CATV foam dielectric RG-11 is not far behind LMR400 and its cheap. Not to be confused with mil spec RG-11 with braided copper shield and solid polyethylene dielectric.
