Whats out there that I can set up to scan all day and record the hits? Looking for a base station that will record all modes currently out there. My R30 doesn't have DMR so thats out. Thinking a Uniden 536 with all the additional software. Anything else out there? Trying to keep the price down so not looking at the SDS series. Thanks.

You can do this with ProScan in combination with any scanner that is supported by it:

ProScan supports the BCT15, BCT15X, BC250D, BC296D, BR330T, BC346XT, BC346XTC, BCD325P2, BCD396T, BCD396XT, BCD436HP, BCD536HP, BC780XLT, BC785D, BC796D, BCD996T, BCD996XT, BCD996P2, SDS100, SDS200, SDS100E, SDS200E, UBCD3600XLT, & USDS100 scanners.

Prefer not to use my computer. A base station that uses a sd card that I can pop out and read it on the computer to check out the recorded frequencies along with data on type of transmission, etc..

Fortunately, GA
Whistler WS1098 if you don't want to spend more on the TRX-2.

I have a 1088 HT that I have setup to record trunk, as well as, convetional frequencies.
It shows the the system, TGID, frequency, mode, RID, and of course, any voice traffic.
I mainly use it for discovering new TG's on a DMR system I monitor.

Used to own a 436 so am familiar with the menus and such. Good suggestions. Does the 996P2 able to get all the software (paid) like the 536? Which is better between the two? Looking at used prices for these, almost cost as much as the SDS 200.

I run several 996P2's with DMR and NXDN added all logging to PROSCAN all data plus AUDIO.
You just missed a used 996p2 $250 then add NXDN and DMR $50 each = $350 PROSCAN $50 for a total of $400.
That gives you P25 Phase 1 & 2,NXDN and DMR all logged in a nice and neat package.

One drawback to constant recording directly to an SD card is more wear and tear & greater chances for inopportune failure. Keep in mind that the SD card also holds memory info too. Using software like Proscan to record gives you more info and lays it out in a more organized way, gives you the ability to sort & filter the logged data to your choosing as well. Just my thoughts

I have the BCD536HP and it does great recording to a 32gb sd card. The OP may need to consider at least DMR upgrade

When you guys record your scans, does it list freq, type of transmission like DMR, any PL codes etc..?
My sds lists everything I can see. Uid, pl tone, frequency, scan list used(favorite /system/dept), rec duration and more

Well, the 996P2 doesn't have the LCN feature like the SDS and X36 series from what I can tell. Still looking at this stuff so I make the right purchase. Am I wrong on the 996P2?
