I was in VB general hospital. The overhead loud speaker said "Alpha alert eta 4 mins". I was wondering does the ambulance call hospital on the 800mzh. Like they would normally do. Advise them of the truama. Then the charge nurse calls the main operator so she can page it overhead. Is that correct?

Your correct. Based on patient info recieved from the crew, the appropriate trauma alert level is assigned. Alpha alert of course being most severe and so on. I used to have a list on what determines the trauma level. Ill have to go digging for it when I pay a visit to my parents in Va Beach in October. Did VBGH go back to a level II facility? I remember they lost it a while back.

Sounds about right ... Its in the TEMS protocol ... you could probably find it online somewhere ... Wish I could remeber its been about 10 years or so since my days at Rescue 16
