Went to the Augusta ARC VE test this morning at Warren Baptist church, took my tech exam and passed 30 of 35.

Nice bunch of people to take their Saturday to help out others like that.

Had an interesting experience on my exit, it was a round about way I walked in to the place and as I left the room I noticed an exit sign to the right. I thought oh great that'll save some time.
So I head down and fallow the exit signs down the stairs and out the door to some kind of courtyard/playground. I thought this doesn't look right so I turn around, well the door only opens from the inside...
So anyways Im stuck, I try other doors and everything is locked.
There was a large emergency exit door, I was real hesitant to use it but in short, I was trapped.
I opened the door/gate expecting alarms to go off but nothing happend.

Made me feel like a real idiot, silly me fallowing the signs right? Anyways just FYI if you take the exam, take the long way out. :)

Now I just have to wait for my callsign, they said it'll probably be about 21 days or so.
I ordered a wouxun dual band radio about two weeks ago. I also installed an Arrow 2m/70cm j-pole in my attic last week and it really helped the reception.
I programmed the radio with some of the local repeaters but left the TX frequencies so as not to have any mistakes. Once I get my call sign I'll put those in and see what happens!

Today I also ordered the Q&A book for the new general test and I'm going to read that over the next few months and try for an upgrade. I'm really interested in DXing and QRP/SSB

I'm limited as far as antennas go as I live in the burbs and my HOA are pretty aggressive so if anybody has some ideas of good attic antennas please share.

Well that's enough of my rambling! Thanks and have a great evening.

Congrats! You'll look back years from now and still go wow! :)

Just a note, you have to be smarter than your HOA! There's always a way to get your signal out in spite of the opposition !

A well still no joy, checked ULS and nothing as of yet. Perhaps they mailed it in?
I know, I know... it'll come eventually. Meanwhile I check the ULS about 30 times a day :)

Anyways I ordered some stuff last night.

An astron RS-41 PSU

An Alinco DR-06T (FM only, too bad no SSB but I might get an MFJ for that)

An Alinco ej-41u I found on ebay for $45 so I can do digital modes *knock on wood*, the main reason I got the Alinco 6m txrx was that I got this board for cheap.

An Arrow GP-51 antenna and another 50ft of rg8x with pl259 ends. I plan to mount it in the attic.

This will have to do till I upgrade to general, then I'll be on the look out for a low cost HF rig.

Also still waiting on a softrock40 txrx I ordered, dunno when I'll get around to building that what with all the tiny surface mount stuff that must be on it, I have big clumsy hands!
