• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

Hi everyone,

I have a hire stock of around 40 GP340 radios, which I've just added a further 12 to this week. I've had most of the radios for about 2-3 years now, and the radios were bought as a job lot supplied complete with a ribless programming cable and CPS software. I've since added a few extra and had no problems.

However... I've just bought a further dozen radios (used), gone to program them for a job going out tomorrow and been hit with an error "codeplug version not supported by this CPS".

I'm running R03.08.03 of CPS (2007) and the new radios I'm trying to program have codeplug v7.00 on them.

Any ideas on a quick fix here? Having been supplied with the CPS software I've never had any dealings with MOL, and although I've registered they've quoted the standard "we'll get back to you within 48 hours" and I've been sent a standard email saying that MOL is only for accredited suppliers and distributors (which I am neither - I only hire, I don't retail them). I'm not holding out much hope of buying the latest version of CPS by tomorrow lunchtime when the new radios are supposed to be out on a job.

I'd be really grateful for any suggestions here - I should point out that I'm not scrounging for free software. In fact I'll happily pay Motorola but I think I'm going to struggle for time here and that's assuming Motorola haven't changed their policy from those suggested on this forum where anyone can buy the CPS software.

I don't really have a backup plan at present as I am the only hirer of Motorola's on the Island I live on and there nearest person who could otherwise program is a ferry ride away.

Help! (Please!)

Many thanks in advance.

you definately a newer copy of CPS to program those radios (the latest). And if you are in the USA, good luck getting the software for the GP340. If memory serves me, they are not intended for sale in the US market.

I'm over in the UK, so no issue there!

As luck would have it, I managed to pull a favour with one of my suppliers over here in the UK and they emailed me a later version of CPS.... and as if by magic the radio is suddenly able to be read and written to!

Panic over. Radios boxed up ready for collection by customer. Phew!
