GRE-500 will not work on DC power

I got my 500 scanner the other day and was reading about the problems people were having with the DC power cords purchased online. I went to two different Radio Shacks and tried there DC car adapters. Both times the scanner would not work. It works off the included wall power supply but can not get it to work with car adapters. I tried all the plug adapters that would fit and nothing worked. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

9 volt car adapter with the 'B' adaptor plug. Making sure the the '+' on the plug is lined up with the 'TIP' on the cord. Otherwise it ain't going to work

So get the "B" adapter plug? We were using the "L" plug.

'B' is the best, 'C' is next best. Plugs for the 106 and 500 are identical. Just make sure you line the '+' on the 'B' adapter with the 'TIP' for it to work.

Thanks for the info. I will go back down there tomorrow and get the "B" plug.
