GRE Programming Cable

Went to use my usb cable today to do some programming however, maybe someone on here can refresh my memory was there a light that would light up once you plugged in into the usb port? I am getting no light and seems my cable is dead. I have tried other types of usb cable and they seem to go into the usb port further then the GRE does. I have not reprogrammed my radio in sometime so I had not noticed this sooner. Any clarification would be appreciated if its dead then off to radio shack I go unless I can use a the older RS232 cable then I will be fine.

I don't get a light from mine except when there is an active transmission. Both lights flash when sending to the scanner, and one flashes when downloading from the scanner.

Thanks for the reply I opened up the casing around the circuit board and had to repair a loose connection now its working fine. I was not getting it to do anything earlier. Just glad it saved me $30 bucks but was thankful if I did have to buy a cable they was on sale for $5 off. Thanks again for looking.
