This seems to be the official webpage for airshow related info, and besides the Blue Angels, it notes that the Black Daggers Parachute Team and the A-10 West Demo Team are set to perform. You'll find frequencies for these demo teams in the 2011 air show pdf as well.
The show is still 7 weeks away and sometimes they won't post a schedule of performers until the week of, so you may have to wait a lil bit but keep checking for updates. The Blue Angels haven't performed there for 20 years I read so you guys are in for a real treat.
I got my hotel booked back in Febuary. I booked the Thursday of the weekend yesterday and the price went up $60. Plugin the US Department of Defense:Air Force P25 system from the Cascade Co database page. Some comms are ENC and some are not. I haven't written down the TG's but there's a hand full that were active. Great Falls PD is what it is in the database.
I saw the Blue Angels in Idaho Falls last year, and they used most of the freqs from the air show pdf 2011. My 396T is setup with just those few freqs in their own system with a pri on all of the frequencies. You usually find the air boss frequncey with the aircraft service search the day of the show, but need to be inside the airport grounds to hear him.
i use my duel band ham radio as a air scanner ,,, i dont have trunk or digital since all the rebanding and other pains in the tail started up around between 2002 and 2007
You guys should read the rules and regulations section of the show's website. It will tell you what is prohibited. We have been seeing a trend of the reg's saying, "no scanners, ham radios, walki-talkies, GPS..." Not worth getting your toys confiscated...
I haven't been to an airshow yet where we weren't allowed to use our ham radios. Keep a copy of your license with you in case they ask to see it. We try to use UHF (446.05) to keep from putting intermod on the VHF a/c frequencies. I also see alot of Family radios in use by spectators at the air show.
