TG56494 Parma Hts Fire Dispatch

At 10:35 pm I monitored Parma Hts. Fire Dispatch send an engine to a residence due to reports of smoke. The home owner advised the unit on scene that the smoke was the result of a cooking accident.

10:44 pm the engine on scene reported back to dispatch confirming no fire.

Since Monday I have monitored several Parma Hts Fire dispatches on TG56494, with radio id's of 1876xxx.

I will do a submission to the database.

Berea PD/Fire

Tyler you are correct. Berea PD takes the fire phones and dispatch over when fire are out on calls.
I wonder if Berea PD will move off their old analog radio's.

well tg 56478 is Olmsted Falls Fire and Olmsted Twp Fire Dispatch both share the same Talkgroup like when they was on the southwest system.

Olmsted falls and Olmsted township have the same dispatch frequency. However they both have different FG. I'm currently learning this system first hand bc I work for 2 of the departments in this network. And bc of this forum I've been able to point out different issues and things to my superior officers. Like right now it's kind if funky having multiple cities who work together not on the same system as the change over happens. I'll keep u all up to date on things I find out. Trust me everyone that's using the system is confused on how it works.

FFAndy,

Middleburg Hts Fire has been active on this system since the 13th. My scanner shows over 400 hits for Middleburg Hts Fire. I've heard them every day since.

Regarding Berea Fire, I first monitored their dispatch and squads early (12:40 am) on the 25th. I have monitored traffic from Berea Fire each day since.

I don't know about "Official Switch Overs" I can only tell you that both Middleburg Hts and Berea Fire have been active on the reported TG's.

FFAndy,

I'm curious about what the users are finding confusing. I would have thought that transitioning from a Moto Type II system to a P25 system would be straight forward.

Could you PM me with some examples?

Thx

Ya, interesting on the confusion, for South West users, would not be any different than previous digital trunking experiences and all have access to each others channels. I could see how the transition period could be annoying though, but looks like that will be kept down to only a handful of months.

I had Unitrunker up on the system for a few days over Christmas. Did not do too much listening. But definitely heard Berea out on a call, then another call came in. Berea asked Middleburg Heights for mutual aid, and the Middleburg squad found the Berea channel and talked with units there without any trouble or confusion.

Will work a stack of newer Radio ID ranges into the wiki based on latest activity.

From what I saw Strongsville Police, Fire and Rec Center were the only remaining users on the SWRCN system. Likely could move over any day now and that system shut down, will be interesting to see if all frequencies get moved over to GCRCN.

I would think all users not only have access to more common channels and interop channels, and likely zones of MARCS/IP channels, and maybe even a Parma zone if they're willing. Unless the Zone/Channel configuration is not laid out as well as before or causing part of the reason for confusion.

Also, from what I see from talk groups/affiliations and the general pattern, suspecting the following for the full block of South West FG1/FG2/TAC1/TAC2 talkgroups, will let you locals confirm as actual usage occurs:

56286 Berea FG1?
56287 Brook Park Fireground 1
56288 Middleburg Heights Fireground 1
56289 North Royalton Fireground 1
56290 Olmsted Falls FG1?
56291 Olmsted Twp FG1?
56292 Parma Heights FG1?
56293 Strongsville FG1?

56294 Berea FG2?
56295 Brook Park FG2?
56296 Middleburg Heights FG2?
56297 North Royalton Fireground 2
56298 Olmsted Falls FG2?
56299 Olmsted Twp FG2?
56300 Parma Heights FG2?
56301 Strongsville FG2?

56307 Berea PD TAC1?
56308 Brook Park PD TAC 1
56309 Middleburg Heights PD TAC1?
56310 North Royalton PD TAC1?
56311 Olmsted Falls PD TAC1?
56312 Olmsted Twp PD TAC1?
56313 Parma Heights PD TAC1?
56314 Strongsville PD TAC1?

56315 Berea PD TAC2?
56316 Brook Park PD TAC 2
56317 Middleburg Heights PD TAC2?
56318 North Royalton PD TAC2?
56319 Olmsted Falls PD TAC2?
56320 Olmsted Twp PD TAC2?
56321 Parma Heights PD TAC2?
56322 Strongsville PD TAC2?

It's nice when systems are programmed in a nice alphabetical and common order/patterns. Most of these had more specific affiliations from the primary agency, and looks like South West and maybe other users at least have access to everybody's FG1/FG2 and TAC1/TAC2 talk groups.

Heard an exchange from Brook Park PD saying go to TAC, but nothing showed up that I had programmed in (56308, 56316). I was in scan mode on a BCD996XT. I think I've logged some FG TGs on here but don't recall any PD TAC TGs. I'll look back...

Seven new freqs added

Just for grins I ran Pro96com against GCRCN and came up with 30 freqs, see the pic below. The rr database currently has 23 freqs. Five of the new freqs came from the following two Strongsville STA licenses. I don't know where the other two came from.

Oh that's right. My unitrunker list got bigger a few days ago, and I just made the window bigger without thinking about it
Did you submit this into the DB?

Also 855.3375 doesn't seem to be as active as the others.

Do you guys have any idea just how fortunate you are to have a 30-channel system, obviously an extremely busy one, to listen to? Those hit counts are crazy. And that's just one system for you guys. There's probably a couple more simulcast cells around your respective areas with tons of traffic.

Nothing like that to listen to here in East Ohio. It is deafening quiet a lot of the time.

I'm going to re-use a comment I read a day or two from somebody else... "A pox on your families!"

The DB has been updated. Thank you.

And if you are fortunate to live in a "sweet spot" able to monitor Cuyahoga/Lake/Geagua MARCS IP, Cleveland and Summit/Akron systems .. it can be sensory overload !!!

A lot of pressing hold or lockout or replay buttons on the HP ....

Happy New Year to all in the NE Ohio listening area !

Lucky?

It's good and bad, to many people monitor a lot and hear little me included. Lately I try and spend more
time focusing on nearby stuff and I catch a lot more start to finish. The GCRCN is really busy but sometimes hearing the end game is tougher. That or maybe I am just getting to old and my ability to focus sucks. (gr)

Happy Years

It can be overwhelming. There are way too many individual systems around to monitor. I blame you guys for convincing me to try to pick up GCRCN. As if I don't have enough to monitor in Summit and Stark Counties.

Happy Scanning and New Year!

Berea and middleburg parma Hts and n royalton are switched over. North royalton had a fire yesterday and I heard them loud and clear. Strongsville had a reported apt fire and I heard them on there old system. It will be a while until everything is figured out. I'm at the airport ad we primarily talk to Cleveland few but recently we have been running MA to brook park and Berea. So on my end it's been difficult figuring out how to add us on surrounding cities radios and put there FG on ours. So you can maybe add Hopkins ARFF if you monitor brook park or Berea bc we go on quite a few calls with them. Keep up the good work. I'll et back to monitoring more since the holidays are over.

Try the RS 800 antenna or try a dumb downed antenna, my 30ft high antenna shows 5 bars on my 600 and the decode rate is all over the place. I put an old RS 800 bag phone antenna on my 197 and it does better. On my 800 I use the Watson 889 completely collapsed and it works pretty good. This system has a goofy footprint. Riding aound Westlake last week and the signal sucked, in areas of Ridgeville it sounded good.
