Hey everyone. I moved to Grenada about six months and have been listening to the local going-on's... I don't have a scanner yet but have been using my dual-band ham radio since there's not much activity on 2m or 70cm around here.
There are some inconsistences in the Grenada County listings. Hopefully someone can shed some light / confirm some things. I don't want to go submitting corrections right away because I'm still finding new/different channels!
Grenada Police is shown having Primary and Secondary channels but I've heard activity on both at the same time, with two different dispatchers. Can anyone confirm that one is being used for the Sheriff's office now? I don't have Lo-band on the HT so I can't check those frequencies.
One of the inputs for the police differ. This is what I've found:
Sometimes the police refer to a "Channel 3" - anyone know what this is? I've yet to hear anything on 155.730 "Car-to-Car", 155.490 "Statewide Hi-Band" or 158.910 "Police Secondary" Repeater Input.
The 155.685 "Police Secondary" seems to suffer a lot of interference on the input. In fact, it was because of that interference that I stumbled on the correct input. Sure enough, I'm hearing another agency. I think it's the Choctaw County Sheriff's Dept., with a different PL than Grenada. It's strong enough that I wonder why Grenada is using this input - there's no license for it in the FCC databases!
Last but not least, the Fire Dept seems to have moved from 154.430 to 154.340, with a 203.5 PL. That freq is shown as Geeslin Corners VFD with a different PL.
Gee, are there any other hidden gems I should be aware of?
Also, does anyone listen to any businesses? Anything interesting there?
Sorry for all the questions. I'm from Birmingham originally, where VHF-Hi and UHF were packed to the gills with all kinds of public service and businesses... (And lots of ham chatter too but that's a different story.)
Cheers!
