GT Metro Sta 1

Does any one know if Grand Traverse Metro STA 1 is operational or when it will be? I just noticed the warning sign's for fire engines on 3 mile and drove by the STA & I honestly never it was there. If it is a new STA does anyone have any clues on what type of apparatus will stationed out of it? Thanks

I've heard that it should be operational by the summer time. Though I don't know much about Metro 1.

Station 1 has been in the works for a couple years now, but to my knowledge is not complete yet. It lays in East Bay Twp. and will mostly likely be a extension of Station 9, but I hear will be used by both St. 9 and 11 personnel since it's right on the Garfield/East Bay boarder and is centrally located between the two. It mostly likely won't hold a lot of equipment, probably just a couple apparatus...engine, tanker, rescue rig. I'm just guessing here, but I think, in terms of the Metro dept. anyway, that the twp. boarders will start to break down, and Metro will start behaving like several stations of one dept (like a city) instead of different departments with their own jurisdictions.

I agree with you GG on the operating like City Fire.

I've also heard Tower 11 will be stationed there. I've heard alot of rumors about it; but who knows what they'll end up doing now...

I've got some friends on 9; I can get some more solid information tomorrow on Station 1.

I've also heard that some apparatus from 11 will be there. It will probably be some trucks from both 9 and 11 since both will use it...at least until they can afford to purchase new rigs. It'll be a while before they pay off 11's tower. It cost nearly 1 million bucks.

Thanks for the responses, The station is sitting there and has a sign sitting out front.
It will be nice to see GT Metro acting as one I always found it funny that STA 9 is first in and I live next to GT Metro Admin office.

Per a Metro all-call page tonight, Rescue-9 and Engine-13 are now located at Station 1.
