LIMON - A female correctional supervisor was taken to a Denver hospital after she was physically assaulted in the Limon Correctional Facility.
The Department of Corrections says it happened around 3 p.m. on Wednesday in the prison's sewing shop.
The woman was taken to a local hospital after the assault, then flown to Denver in a Flight For Life helicopter as a precaution.
Authorities have not given any word on her condition or the extent of her injuries. The victim's identity was also not released.
The suspect, Alan Thomas, Jr., is serving a life sentence for murder, sex assault, burglary and robbery.
The Department of Corrections is investigating.
