Hi, i have an ADALM-PLUTO SDR dongle, and it says its capable of half duplex transmission. can someone help me understand what that is? when i turned on the signal generator to 400mhz and turned on my spectrum analyzer, nothing showed up. no peak at 400mhz. so im not sure i even understand what this thing can do. all i know is it unlocked all the cool features on the spectrum analyzer...lmao

Half Duplex = Push to talk on One Frequency (usually a Repeater input) and release to Listen on a different frequency (usually a Repeater output)

I'm confused. This is a sdr. There isn't a push to talk. It just says that it does half duplex transmission, I activated the signal generator but my spectrum analyzer didn't show anything.... Weird

Technically, it is full duplex, as it can listen while it transmits.

It is a low power, high bandwidth learning tool. They are not meant for measuring anything, nor communication. They have a FPGA that responds to SSH, telnet, TCP/IP, and a bunch of other crazy neat stuff.

Now, I have never said this in any thread on the internet before now: don't transmit without an antenna, nor on a frequency that you don't have privileges or a license. The included jumper cable can overcome the previous statements physics-ly and legally.

And, damn old timers with their short posts ninja'ing my links.

Edit: I have one, and am still learning

I was advised the software I am using has been designed for the adalm pluto, and once I linked the pluto to it, I got access to a bunch of cool features on the spectrum analyzer. It's certainly working as a spectrum analyzer I have been testing it. Although I will gladly admit I'm not technically knowledgeable about these things. The software lead me to its door, it was either hackrf one or adalm, and I got the adalm cheap and faster. I did not compare specs and stuff like that.

If there was only some sort of tool where you could type in questions and it would return information from a web of world wide resources of information, including the manufacturer, that would be sooooo cool….

Oh, look!
If only there was a forum you could ask questions and get direct answers from.... I guess that forum doesn't exist 🙄

Don't take it personal, when someone sets themselves up like that, you can't get upset when we give you a bit of good natured ribbing.

You tell me. You're the one who gets triggered when we refer you to manuals & documentation answering your question
Yes because when someone's asking a question, there's a reason. If I could get my answer elsewhere, I would, BELIEVE ME. You guys are so cold, and basically are accusing me of doing illegal things although you've danced around actually saying it. I'm not up to no good. I'm trying to understand radio better so I'm asking questions IN A RADIO FORUM. Is that not the point of forums? For people to ask questions? The last time you told me it's in the manual, it wasn't, and I proved it, and you got salty then an admin locked the thread.

I don't see what I set myself up for. I'm asking a simple question, answer it, or don't. Don't link me to something I could have come to on my own. I'm trying to pick at people's brains, not read manuals. That's not how I learn. Welcome to the world of "not everyone is like me and learns the same way I learn"
