I am disappointed in how hard it is to get support and contact someone directly about problems with the database. Right now I wonder why I paid the premium since the data base only worked once and that was before I joined. I live in Clallam County Washington, zip code 98331 and none of our municipalities show up. If there was some sort of contact point to explain this problem it would be an improvement. I am trying to use the ARC Scanner Software and can't do what I need to as long as our county is half gone.

When you say your county is half gone, do you mean there is no info available for certain areas/towns? If so, then info probably was never submitted for those areas. The database requires locals to submit info, then an administrator assigned to cover the area lists the info submitted. No info submitted = no info listed.

You posted on here and had a response in 14 minutes from a database admin, that doesn't sound like it was too hard.

The question is why would you have joined in the first place without checking the database to ensure the information you wanted was there? Would you buy a car without making sure it had an engine?

You need to understand, as @Deziel0495 said above, the database is half gone (probably more than that looking at how light the info is on the database page) because no one in your area has chosen to submit the information. The database is populated by members who monitor and verify the usage of frequencies, not management.

If you go to Washington and select Clallam County and then click on the tab that is labeled "FCC Licenses" you will see numerous listing which are not reflected in the RR database. I suspect this is because no one has verified them and contributed them to the database. Instead of complaining why don't you help out? Example: There are several fire districts listed as having FCC licenses that are not in the database. Start with those.

I saw it once and then not again.

Yours is not the type of rude response I expected but thanks anyway.

For the amount of information on this site, the premium price is a real bargain. It is crowd-sourced, as they say. Scanner manufacturers and scanner programmers think enough of the site to use it as a source. If the powers-that-be had to pay to get all the information, I suspect the price would double or triple. I'm thankful that it's only $30, tip not included.

I am glad you are pleased with what you get but that does not help me or the fact that information is missing. If I had known that the service was not complete and universal I would not have paid for incomplete service.

I guess you didn’t notice that I said that the information was there during one of my searches before I paid to join. This is not a metropolitan area so there would not be that many locals submitting information. And there is no expectation that you need to do this when you pay for this database use.

You didn’t read for comprehension did you? I did see the information once before I needed to pay for it.

I did look at your county in the database, and I can see your frustration. There does seem a lot missing. I would also start with the FCC licenses as mentioned above. Enter each frequency Conventionally with tone search, as that seems most likely. Also, as of note, there appears to be a P25 Phase II trunking system for DOT and such.

I sense that you feel like you aren't getting the answer that you desire. No need to be hostile to people trying to point you in the best direction to get the information you are looking for. If it's not there, it's not there. Here is a link to the page that shows the edits made in Clallum County in the database. It certainly doesn't appear as if anything was removed. OP... You are getting a lot of good assistance here. Just follow it... Try What I said, go to your area fire stations, ask... take a pad with you... also see if there are any radio shops or CB stores in your area.

Hi KGWJWW:

I used Sentinel to extract items within 50miles of 98331 from the RadioReference database. (See attached screenshot)

What municipalities are not showing up when you access the database? (Please be gentle, I am not familiar with your area)

I am trying to figure out what is not showing up and whether the information you expect to see is
  • not in the RR database
  • in the database, but not where you expect to see it
  • not being found when you access it using the ARC software.
  • something else

Serious question, how many people in your department would know all (any?) of the frequencies? In my department, we have 112 members, and I bet three of us at the most would have idea what the output/input/PL would be for our system, much less the P25 system we're going to.

I am not in the fire department but I am a retired photographer, reporter from a large Daily Newspaper in my area. Pretty much every fireman knows who I am and I'm familiar with them.

Some of them are very good with the systems and frequencies but, you're right, not many, if the poster was to go and politely introduce himself to the red team that's always in the station they would simply go into the radio room, open the drawer and pull out all of the carefully printed out sheets of frequencies that they would refer to if they had to program a scanner.

Depending on the posters attitude, politeness and demeanor I'm sure the lieutenant or deputy chief would simply make photocopies of them for him.;)
