Hello. Can anyone tell me why on any given day when I'm listening to the hamilton fire dept on their Motorola system that the trucks generally farther away (stations 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 19, 21, 23, 24, 25 26, 27, 28 and corresponding apparatus) from my location (Caistorville) are clearer then the the closer ones (stations 2, 3, 4, 5, 12, 14, 15, 16, 17, 18 and corresponding apparatus). Thanks

possible interference or type of antenna your using? It may sound like your using a Yagi antenna.. Try it in the car and go a block away and see if it improves.... Could just be location of your home antenna...

I think Hamilton has more than one tower for this system.
Perhaps the ones that dont sound as clear are the rural units affiliating with rural towers.

What you should be checking is which talkgroups come in better.

Before the big amalgamation, only the Regional Fire Departments were broadcast from the Regional towers. The City of Hamilton fire department was only broadcast from the towers within the City's limits.

It was the same with the police service. Central and East were broadcast only within the city while the Dundas talkgroup was broadcast from the Regional towers.

The Regional towers were much easier to pick up outside of the city.

I would check to see where the station locations are and if certain talkgroups seem to be easier to pick up.

The stations in Rural Hamilton and on the outskirts of Hamilton might be easier to pick up then stations within the old City if they are still setup the same way.

All tg's come in fine. Depends what station is using which tac for their call. The stations below the mountain and out in Flambough are the ones that come in the best. The ones closest to me being the ones on the mountain and down in Stoney Creek are the ones that come in garbled. Thanks
