Hi All,
I'm interested in becoming a ham operator and getting my Tech License. I really do not know where to begin. I've been to AARL website, and QRZ, but was having trouble with finding a club in my area. I'm located in Portsmouth and have no problems traveling throughout Hampton Roads to a club if they are willing to help.
I didn't want to post this in the Newbie/ getting your License forum, cause I'm looking for help locally.
Thanks
Garrett

Thanks for the info. I finally got my copy of the Ham Radio License Manual today. I also got in contact with Radio Amateur Society of Norfolk, who will be giving a 5 day class with the Tech test on the sixth day. Wish me luck, I've just begun my "ham" journey.

I am a former member of the Virginia Beach club. They are a large group of great people and they hold periodic classes and monthly test sessions. Contact them through the website:

I went through their classes when I was 12 and was licensed by the club at a Saturday test session. I will never forget the great support I received from the club and the members.
