Well I attempted to get the TGID's for Harnett Fire/EMS off the radios today but it appears that none of the local TGID's are programmed. I check on two different mobiles and neither had them. I can give you every hospital in the state, Troopers, Statewide LEO, etc....but no Dispatch, Tac, or M/A channels.

I don't know if they are going to install a second radio with local TGID's programmed or if they will program the local TGID's at a later time. We are going to get AVL's installed next month so that takes care of checking enroute, on scene, left for secondary, etc. but it does not help with calling for resources.

I am assuming that they will reprogram the radios or add an additional unit with local Tacs. We don't have any portables yet so I can not access anything right now. I will get the TGID's as soon as I get my hands on a radio that has them.

Received an email from EMS Supervisor this morning letting us know that VIPER portables are being placed in the field this week. They are ONLY going to be used for communications on Harnett County EMS Admin channel for now and the existing 800 system will be used for all other communication.

So...I work tonight and hopefully there will be a portable at my station so I can get the TGIDs out of it.

More to come.

Thanks for all of the updates Chris! Its nice to finally have some help in getting these TGID's posted and confirmed. Quick Question for you though. The have put up a 2nd Tower in Lillington that are all in the 700 Mhz range. Do you have any idea what that tower and frequencies are going to be utilized for or is it just a back up tower supporting the tower on Edwards Bros. Drive?

Thanks for all the great pics as well and a great job!

Harnett County Fire/EMS will be going LIVE with VIPER starting tomorrow at 10am but it is going to be a modified dispatch and response so what you hear on certain TG's may not be what you hear the following week.

This is the memo sent out this morning....

"We will start dispatching Fire and EMS on viper tomorrow April 1,2015 at approximately 10am. We will not be using EMS ALERT OR EMS DISPATCH at this time. All calls will be dispatched on FIRE ALERT and you will call Central on FIRE DISPATCH.
Fire alert is the same as HCDISP and Fire Dispatch is the same as TAC1."

So update your scanners.

Has anyone heard any more of the TG's for Harnett County? I know they were suppose to be having individual TG's for each district/department up by now but I haven't heard anything yet has anyone heard if they have those up and running yet or any others that haven't been posted here?

Help

I finally bought a new digital scanner. I purchased the Uniden BCD396XT this past week for scanning in Harnett County. It’s amazing just how small this scanner is to my old one. As expected I’m pulling my hair out trying to understand and program this machine. It took me 4 years to get my last scanner programed the proper way and I have vowed to not let that happen with this one. Is anyone aware if there is somewhere local that could help me program this scanner for Harnett County? If not is there a website or program guide that is easy to understand that can walk me step by step on how to program this scanner. I have found the instruction manual that was included extremely complicated. Thanks for any information.

Jonathan... I have the software on my computer and already have the talk groups and towers to give you coverage in Harnett, Johnston, Northern Sampson, Eastern Lee and Cumberland Counties already stored in my computer where all I have to do is just open it up, click on what you want to listen to and delete what I have that you may not want to hear ( I have 3 counties in mine plus the Highway Patrol) and the click program and in about 2 to 4 minutes it is programmed. if you want help programming your scanner send me a private message and we will see if we can get together to get you up and running ASAP.

Harnett Spout Springs Control Channel

I commute through western Harnett regularly and have not heard much from US1 through Johnsonville since the VIPER switch-over. A couple of days ago I had a chance to monitor the Lillington tower while using Pro96Com, and on the "adjacent towers" tab I noticed that 854.23750 was listed. Looking at the database listing for Harnett/Spout Springs (copy below), 853.75000 is listed as the control channel but there is no indicator beside 854.23750. I have had 853.75000 in my PRO106 without much luck but when I added 854.23750, the scanner has become pretty active on the daily commute through Johnsonville.

1 (1) 055 (37) Spout Springs Harnett 851.31250 851.81250 852.36250 852.86250 853.75000c 854.23750

Is it possible that the database has a misidentified primary control channel for Spout Springs?

Has anyone else noticed that the TG for Lillington, Angier, and Coats Police Departments has either been changed or they just aren't talking? I know they were doing something with the radios this past Friday and I have noticed that I haven't heard a peep out of the TG that they were using. Has anyone else noticed this?

I'm hearing the usual this morning although it does seem to go quiet at times. May not have time to run a scan and analyze the output for a couple of days.

Hey everyone.... The new Viper System seems to be working better I have noticed lately. I do have one question though... They had a home invasion today just outside of Lillington off of Dean Road. My question is did anyone else hear anyone other than the SHP talking on the Viper System. I heard one of the Troopers saying that everyone was working the incident on the Harnett Sheriff channel in their SHP car and portable radios but I have not been able to find the DEC or HEX ID number for that channel. I do know when SHP first went to the Viper System that they had a channel that SHP E-Town could talk to Harnett Co SO dispatch on but I cant find it listed anywhere or under Harnett County any TG listed for Harnett Sheriff. I even put my scanner on open bank (which I was hearing stuff from all over the state then but still nothing out of what was happening here in the county. Anyone have any clues or answers or even any ideas as to what this TG's DEC or HEX number could be or if it is just not been listed on here yet. I have noticed a lot of gaps in the DEC numbers listed under Harnett County on the Viper P25 listings but you would think with all that was going on that on open bank I would have caught SOMETHING traffic wise with everything that was going on. If anyone knows anything or has any info please post it or email me on here one so that we can get a full list and not have gaps like this.

Probably an OPS or TAC channel, different folks call them different things. Here in Wake our Patrolmen prefer us to come to one of their MA channels.
