• Effective immediately we will be deleting, without notice, any negative threads or posts that deal with the use of encryption and streaming of scanner audio.

We've noticed a huge increase in rants and negative posts that revolve around agencies going to encryption due to the broadcasting of scanner audio on the internet. It's now worn out and continues to be the same recycled rants. These rants hijack the threads and derail the conversation. They no longer have a place anywhere on this forum other than in the designated threads in the Rants forum in the Tavern.

If you violate these guidelines your post will be deleted without notice and an infraction will be issued. We are not against discussion of this issue. You just need to do it in the right place. For example:

I've updated the database with talkgroup#:19120. I've confirmed this as Harris County Sheriff's Department's District 6 Dispatch. I heard several traffic stops along Ella@Rankin. Their TAC is Northwest, but I haven't came across the talkgroup.

You are correct about 19120; 19184 is TAC-6.

Here's a comparison of both Lindsay's and Myles' lists concerning District 6 talkgroups:
Lindsay's List 07-31-2006 19:15
19184 4af Dispatch 6 - District 6 (future)
18800 497 Tactical NWEST-A (future)

Myles' List 7/16/06
19120 4AB *Harris County Sheriff's Office - District 6 Dispatch - (proposed Northwest?)
18800 497 Harris County Sheriff's Office-Tactical Northwest-A (to be used by District 6)(now use for major special events)
19184 4AF Harris County Tactical - TAC-6 (now use for major special events)-rare

Do you know what area they cover? Rankin and Ella doesn't sound like Northwest. I thought D-5 was Northwest?

Since District 6 is not in service (carved out/allotted/etc) the talkgroups assigned are being used for special assignments. I've heard them in use at golf tournaments, conventions, and similar activities. This past week, I've heard the Zebra units working the Katy and the Greenspoint areas. So, for now, D-6 is a Wild Card.

So I'm assuming that D-6 is really not a district? It is more of a Hot Spot Operation? They're using Hot Spot as a TAC as well.

D-6 is a future district, which will be somewhere up north, from what I've been told.

I've heard the reserves, special projects and extra-duty deputies using the tgs. One never knows what the tgs will be used for.

These were used during the Superbowl, before D-5 opened. (my notes)

Sure good listening! DPS is also working U.S. 290 around the W.34th and Mangum area very hard. All in all, good night ahead for all Harris County listeners.
