WC4NHC (Hurricane Watch Net) on 14.325 or the Maritime Mobile Service Net on 14.300 (12 noon to 9pm eastern)? They were mentioned in the June 2022 issue of The Spectrum Monitor.

Also, does anyone have a bright idea for an indoor antenna tuned for listening to those frequencies?

Hurricane Watch Net, I believe is only active when there is a storm threat not to far away. I have both heard and participated
in this net for several major storms.

Regarding indoor antenna's for HF, as you know that is tough. I have used both a slinky dipole stapled to a sheet rock wall (grad student life), and numerous attic antennas. As long as you don't have a metal roof, and you are stuck indoors, put a dipole in the attic, that is the simplest and cheapest effective thing. Also effective and compact are various loop antennas, which could be put near a window or in the attic.

Thanks for the reply. Good to know the hurricane watch net is active when needed.

Roger that on the dipole in the attic or the loop. I was thinking of a loop of wire on a hula hoop, connected to an MFJ 1045C as a preslector and some amplification.

As a HAM I used to check into the Maritime Mobile Service Net on a daily basis. Being so far inland in Michigan it was mainly to check propagation was and how well my modest signal made it down to wherever the host Net Control was located (usually Florida or sometimes California). It is a great service and I hope that it continues for many years to come. They have a website https://www.mmsn.org/
