Though the exact date hasn't been finalized, the Hazleton Police Department plans to switch its dispatching to Luzerne County 911 soon.
The move would end a reliance on in-house dispatchers that has existed for years and free up an extra police officer on the night shift. It would also allow the city's daytime dispatcher to help the police force in other ways.
