A pumper/vacuum truck has exploded in Santa Paula on Mission Rock Road. The product inside has been identified as an oxidizer, causing additional spontaneous explosions of vehicles in the area. Units and personnel exposed to the initial scene have been contaminated, causing separate hazmat scenes at a car wash in Santa Paula, as well as at Ventura County Medical Center. At VCMC hospital, they are on internal disaster status due to 18 patients exposed to the scene, including fire and EMS personnel. Decontamination is underway at VCMC. A large vapor cloud has formed and is moving westward from the initial scene in Santa Paula, threatening the Ventura County Jail on Todd Road in the area west of Santa Paula. Mutual aid
HazMat teams have been requested through South Ops and are en route from LACoFD station 150 in Santa Clarita.
