I just got these from Radio Shack last week.

They're very comfortable and versatile. The stereo/mono switch allows you to hear both L and R when used with a mono device, such as a scanner. The 1/8" stereo to mono adapter is not needed. And they sound pretty good for music. Just switch to stereo and enjoy your walkman or MP3 player. And there's a volume control inline.

I have a set that is pretty close to those. They are wireless!!! Got them from Radioshack but I haven't seen them in store for awhile. Wireless is a must.

Those are pretty sweet.... Something else I'll have to add to my long wish list. :D

I use a set of Koss headphones now, when I want to scan without disturbing others. I also hase a small set of "earbud headphones" that I keep at Chasity's for use on the weekends. Sometimes I like to sit up and scan, and I don't want to wake her up when a tone gets set off or something.

Wireless sounds cool, but do they interfere with scanning activities? What frequency do they use, or are they those IR kind?

I have a pair similar to the ones mentioned in this thread, however mine are Sony.
They have good sound quality, but I find I usually like to listen to my scanner with one ear, these headphones make that difficult so I usually resort to the "ear bud" style headphones I also own.
Another thing about the wrap around style is they seem to be made for people with large heads...

Mine work on 900mhz. So they say... I also like to just listen with one ear. I just put them on top of my head and have one side on the ear and the other off. They don't interfere with any scanning at all. About 40ft. of range on them. Not as far as I prefer but I don't ever need more than 20ft. They have volume and a power switch on the headphone. The transmitter doesn't affect reception one bit.

I use BOSE Quiet Comfort 3 (QC3) active noise-canceling headphones. They work EXCELLENT in high ambient noise environments. With no audio input, the headphones electronically cancel ambient acoustic noise well enough that you start to experience what feels like sensory deprivation. It's designed to give you a peace and quiet environment for listening to your music or whatever audio (from scanner, etc.). They work great on airplanes for helping to actively cancel the sound of the aircraft roar. And BTW they sound great too when you put audio through them. Scanner audio comes through clearly, minus the ambient acoustic noise around you.
