I'm just getting started with amateur radio and want to test for a general license. I figure if I study well enough, I can pass it on my first try. I guess I'll find out soon.

Technician first

You will have to pas the Technician license test first. Then you can try for the General. It doesn't matter if you are Nicola Tesla, the FCC requires everyone go through the same steps. Thai is to assure everyone is on the same page on the rules. Good luck with your testing.

...you can however take the General test during the same testing session providing you pass the Technician test first, usually at no additional cost. Some people, (a lot smarter than I), pass all three on the first day. Good Luck.
