Ok I am resorting to the point of pleading...

Those of you tah read the forums regularly might remember about a month ago I had a problem with a Pro 95 and a short in the volume switch. I have since returned that item to the ebay seller and bought a pro-93 form eBay (did not learn my lesson) the problem I am having with the pro 93 is described below.

But first let me explain how important it is that i resolve this issue. I got a Pro -97 at the beginning of November and my mother loves it. So I promised to get her a scanner for Christmas. We are now 3 days from that dead line and the scanner is still not working. I will return to the seller and go buy a new pro 97 if that is what it is going to take. but I would like to get this resolved before Christmas

Alright that said here is the problem:

Holding both scanner next to eachother and programed exactly the same I can recieve tranmissions on all local police channels fine on the pro 97 however with the Pro 93 I get nothing. The idea of a bad transciever can be ruled out by the fact that the NOAA channel in my area can be recieved load and clear.

Please advise. What I am hoping is that this is a know issue with the pro 93 and one of great scanning geniuses can post a quick fix for this.

You need to see if you are missing the control channel on the 93, if you are trying to trunktrack.

By "all local police channels" do you mean trunked AND conventional? Or are you just doing conventional?

I know the radio can pick up The local NOAA Signal which it of coarse not trunked. I think it is a problem in receiving trunked transmissions.

Upon closer inspetion of the aution listing on Ebay where I go thtis unit the seller sayes he never used it for trunked monitioring.

Frankly I think this is a convert way of clearing his conscience for selling a known defective unit. I mean really who would by a dual trunking scanner and never use the trunking feature.

If you are just interested in monitoring the City of Tulsa site on the 93, 95, and 97 all you need is...

860.9375
859.9375

857.9375

854.9625 is AKA talk around and is simplex or car to car. With only 30 watts you have to be close to hear these comms. This frequency is conventional and not part of the trunked system.

856.7375 is a conventional repeater that is not used very often. It is used by TPD and when active is P-25 digital and I think encrypted. It is not part of the main trunked system.

866.0125-868.0125 is the Itac channels which are conventional and not necessary to have to monitor the trunked system.

867.7875 is the same as above not necessary

These are all input frequencies and not necessary to monitor in trunked mode. They are just wasting space. In trunked mode the scanner is looking for output repeater frequencies like 860.9375-857.9375

The rest of the towns and sites that are listed are not nessary for Tulsa. They are good to have if you plan to travel to these areas but other then that they are not nessary for the Tulsa metro.

No, sir! You mustn't speak ill of the 93. I have one that I've used and loved for years. I eventually upgraded to the 97, but the 93 was actually better in a lot of ways.

I don't know enough about the inner workings of a scanner to know if it's possible for the the lower bands to work while the 800s don't. Does anyone know the answer to that?

Only way I know is to find the control channel on a system.

I thank you all for your input. I have resorted to buying mom a pro 97 and I will try to return the pro 93. I think it has a problem in the trunk tracking circuit and or software. I can tune in police convo but it is only via manual tuning though the frequencies and getting lucky.
