WS1040: Help Stephenson county

I have a whistler 1040 that was programmed professionally, it longer picks anything up the channels I scan are not encrypted any help at all would be greatly appreciated. No signal light pops up the trunking light doesn't pop up either.

Do you have programming software? If so, please attach your programming file and I will check it for problems. I have ARC500, Win500, and PSREdit500 software. You will need to right click on the file and Send to Compressed (zipped) folder to be able to attach it. Click on Attach files and Open the zipped folder. There is no trunking light. If the scanner detects the control channel on a trunked system, "T" will show on the display.

Unfortunately I do not. Im not very tech savvy when it comes to scanners, I was just looking for some input it worked up until 2 days ago never had any issues never changed anything with the programing or any settings on the scanner. I know for a fact that it's never this quiet.

Check that all of the programmed scan lists are turned on by pressing numbers on the keypad. If you see a number on the scanner display, that scan list is on. Press 1 thru 0 for scan lists 1-10. Press FUNC and then 1 thru 0 for scan lists 11-20.

I did that as well as making sure none of the channels are locked out.

If you see GA on the screen, the global attenuator is on. Press ATT to toggle attenuator on and off.

What site are you trying to use? And are you trying to receive any specific talkgroup?

Which systems and agencies are you trying to monitor? At your location, you should be using the Freeport site on STARCOM21.

Unless he's scanning the old conventional channels it'd be Starcom21. Both his county sherff/local PD are on there.

I'm not picking up anything from anywhere I'm not getting anything from dispatch or from and departments.

The volume knob has a 'larger' knob on the outside of it called the 'squelch". Make sure that's pointing about 10 o'clock when the scanner screen is facing you.

It's possible that you managed to turn the volume up and you dragged the squelch also.

The squelch is set at 10 o'clock position. Volumes up as well antenna is secure and it has not been dropped or got wet and worked 2 days ago not sure if scanner just decided to be done or if it needs to be flashed and reprogrammed or what the issue is.

Stephenson county sheriff Freeport fire Dakota fire rock City fire Davis fire Orangeville fire Illinois state police tri district ambulance leamons ambulance mostly all Stephenson county channels that are not encrypted it was programmed by someone who knows what they are doing and it's worked for the whole year and a half of had it. Just stopped working 2 days ago

Do you have access to a computer that you could download the programming software on? I could walk you through how to do so if you did.

Side note: I can confirm SCSO & ISP is actively talking and running incidents.

Do you see frequencies and talkgroups showing on the display? If so, you may have lost audio. If that is the case, plug headphones or an earpiece into the headphone jack. Dirty contacts on the jack can mute the internal speaker.

Unfortunately I do not have a computer. And no they don't show on display like it's not recognizing that someone is talking on the group it just keeps scanning and when sit on 1 chanel its just silent
