I have a Radio Shack PRO97 and I got al the frequencies and talk groups from RR and loaded them in, some just typing information and others by web import. None of the trunking works. I've had it up and runing about 4 hours and haven't heard a peep.

I don't know what, if anything, should be in the MOT section (base frequecy, step, etc.) or what should be in the table section.

Any help would be greatly appreciated! I'm kinda new to this and can't figure anything out on my own. It's really starting to make me feel like an idiot!

Help?

Thanks,
KYStang

As Trashman has pointed out to help you out we need to know what area & what system you are trying to monitor...once we have that info we will help you get up and running!

If anyone has a functional .p97 file for Bowling green, KY they would like to donate, fire it my way!

Once I see the setup I can probably figure out how to add or change the information I need on the scanner.

Still waiting for help... :(

I actually have 15 frequencies, but yes, they are all in there.

I have all the frequecies entered as MOT under Rx Mode colomn. Should any or all of them be checked in the "Atten" colomn?

In the section marked "MOT 800 MHz" do I select Normal or Splinter?

In the "MOT Custom Trunking Table" I have no clue what to fill in there...

The "Fleet Map" is a lost cause, do I leave it all like it is or change something?

Use only the 11 frequencies:
855.9875
856.2375
856.9625
857.2375
857.9625
858.2375
858.9625
859.2375
859.9625
860.2375
860.9625

**Select Normal, do not select splinter
**Don't worry about fleetmaps for this system. Selecting Moto type 2 800 should take care of this.
**as far as custom trunking table, I believe that might be unique to PRo97

OK, I'll try that and see what happens with it.

The "extra" frequecies I had were:

810.9875
811.2375
811.9625
812.9625
813.9625
814.9625
815.9625

I don't know where they came from, but my chief gave them to me to try in that system. I'll make sure to let him know he's a moron! LOL

Thanks for your help and I'll let you know how it goes. It will be later today before I can actually try it, but I'll get back as soon as I find out!

Thanks Again!

Those frequencies are actually the mobile transmit frequencies. All you'll need is the 11 and that will get you both base and mobile.

Do not check ATT column unless you get interference
Leave MOT custom table blank or what is already there in the software.
Select normal and MOT in the column

Should you still have problems then by all means go to Mobile Communications. They'll help you for a price though. Or come by the Justice Center and ask for 465 and maybe I can help you.

Do you have your control channel looked out? If so, unlock it and see
if that works. If the control channel is not programmed in, the scanner will not trunktrack. You'll know when you have the control
channel. Because it continuously buzzes.

I don't think I have the control channel locked out... brcause I don't even know what the control channel is! LOL I've tried everything included in the previous posts and still get no trunking traffic. I'm geting FM very good, Barren County souds like it's in the back yard!

I suppose I'll have to call the guys at Mobile Comm or something, I'm too stupid to figure out the problem. Thanks for all your help, but it looks as if the machine has defeated me.

Thanks!

Before you run off and pay money for help. Let us try some more or contact myself or avfd2922, there are several of us who I am sure would be willing to help you in BG, and we all have a good understanding of the system as we listen to and use it.

I am not familiar with that model but if you don't have any ID's programed in as stated are you searching for scanning when you try to trunk. With no ID's you must search the system.

Thanks Benjamin!

I have all eleven frequencies programmed into bank 0 with about 45 talk groups. I have actually heard traffic on the trunking system a little bit today, but not what I would expect from Bowling Green. I live about 7 miles outside the city in Girkin and I pick up Barren, Edmomson and Hart Counties like they are sitting beside me, very loud and clear. I don't know why the reception from Bowling Green would be so much worse. I also have a Motorola MTS 2000 that works fine here, but unfortunately I can't see the actual frequencies, just the alpha tags. Some others on my department have the MTX version of this radio, so I might get with them and see if they can provide any additional information. I'm not going to resort to the expense of hired help at this point, but it's not completely out of the question. I know the guys at Mobile Comm pretty well, they program our 800 MHz radios for us when one needs reprogrammed. I haven't called them yet, I'm trying to salvage what little dignity I have left at this point. I have a department meeing tonight and I'm going to ask around and see if anyone can help me, but if that doesn't work, you can probably expect an e-mail from yours truly. I appreciate all the help, I'm sure it's something simple, I'm just not getting it yet though. Bare with me, I'll get there eventually.

Thanks Everyone!
