Im fairly new to my BCD396T. Using the info in the database, I've enter the control channels and IDs, but cant get anything from EGPD. In search mode i get most all of sac county stuff, but still no EGPD. Does EGPD have something special going on. Please help, I have hardly any hair left.

Thanks

In addition to the control channels add all the channels in the database. I have no problem picking up EGPD; never have. If I were you I'd first add all the channels, not just the control channels and then double/triple check to make sure your TGID's are correct.

Also, do you have both Site 1 and Site 2 programmed?

The way I have mine set up:

Bank 1: Sac S/O (Site 1 only)
Bank 2: Sac S/O (Site 2 only)

Bank 3: EGPD (Site 1)
Bank 4: EGPD (Site 2)

.....and so on and so forth.

Here are all the EGPD TGID's (Talk Group ID's)

52432 ccd A EGPD 1 Main 1
52464 ccf A EGPD 2 Main 2
52496 cd1 A EGPD 3 Records
52528 cd3 A EG DET Detectives
52560 cd5 A EGSWAT SWAT
52592 cd7 A EG K9 Canine
52624 cd9 A EGTRAF Traffic
52656 cdb A EGPDT1 Tactical 1
52688 cdd A EGPDT2 Tactical 2
52720 cdf A EGPDT3 Tactical 3
52752 ce1 A EGMA1 Mutual Aid 1
52784 ce3 A EGMA2 Mutual Aid 2
52816 ce5 A EGMA3 Mutual Aid 3
52848 ce7 A EGMA4 Mutual Aid 4

I typically pick up EG PD from the county site; so perhaps the OP has only the city's control channel frequencies programmed. When you say "sac county stuff", can you be more specific. Some TGs are only on one site, and some both.

First off, turn off search mode. You should be in scan mode with everything programmed. There's WAY too much activity to get anything particular if you're in search mode.

Lodi, thanks for the help. At one time I did have every channel programed in, then I removed all but the control channels, still didn't work. I searched this forum and found a post labeled "sacramento" were he listed the control channels as;
868.5375
868.7375
868.9375
868.9625
so deleted everything and put these in, still no luck on EGPD tags. In search mode with these channels I get Ids;
60304, 64944, 61616, 50992, 49904, 7280, 59280,59280, 56048, 48560, 49840, 52048, 64944, 57232, 53200,47760, 51376, 55120, 56112, 57360, 60304, 59248, 49840, 50416.
and many more. Everything from sac county, west sac, sac city, RT, etc...

On site 001 City System is see listed a total of 24 channels. On site 002 Countywide System I see listed a total of 18 channels, are there more channels?

I verified my ID tags and all are correct.

I program the system as;
MOT
800 MHZ STANDAED
most everything else is set to default.

I'll program all channels and try it again.

thanks again.

Hey all, thanks again for your help.
I went back to answer my own question on the amount of channels, there are 24 channels on city and 22 not (18) on county. I just programed all those channels back in still not hearing anything on EGPD, in scan mode.

Those are the correct county cc frequencies, and usually all you need to program.

In search mode with these channels I get Ids;
60304, 64944, 61616, 50992, 49904, 7280, 59280, 59280, 56048, 48560, 49840, 52048, 64944, 57232, 53200,47760, 51376, 55120, 56112, 57360, 60304, 59248, 49840, 50416.
I get the most traffic on the following EG IDs:
52432 Elk Grove Police 1
52464 Elk Grove Police 2
52528 Elk Grove Police Detectives
52656 Elk Grove Police Tac 1
52688 Elk Grove Police Tac 2

What I highly recommend is that you program in the 4 control channel frequencies and the EG TG IDs above. Put the scanner into SCAN mode with ONLY these frequencies enabled.

I've found that when I am scanning too many frequencies the PRO-97 (and many others) do not dwell long enough on a control channel and conversations are missed. If they dwell too long, conventional channels are missed. For several months now I've used two separate scanners for local monitoring. I actually use PRO-95s to monitor the Sacramento TRS and a PRO-97 or PRO-92 to monitor conventional stuff. I've also set up an additional PRO-95 to feed into UniTrunker and capture all the traffic on the TRS. This has helped me see which TGs are on which sites, and see that some IDs are virtually never used.

Did you create a seperate SYSTEM for each Site 001 and Site 002?

To fully successfully monitor EGPD, you'll need to program two seperate SYSTEMS, Site 001 with the freqs and TGID and then Site 002 with the freqs and TGID.

The freqs for Site 001 and 002 can not be mixed together in one SYSTEM

antfreq,
thanks i just read that same solution on a different post. something to do with getting locked on to one control channel and because EGPD might be on system 1 and 2 at the same time i need to program two different systems, as you described.

thanks again

I have both sites 1 and 2 programmed in one bank and I have noticed that egpd does not follow very well also. i usually only see egpd1, everything else on that bank is sd 1-6 and sp1-6. How would someone recommend programming in eg fire dept? What are the TGID's for the FD in EG? I am never sure which fire dept is calling out or being called on.

I own a pro-134.

Elk Grove Fire is dispatched via Regional Fire, FIRE A series.

Kerndt has a BC-396T so you can NOT have multiple control channels programmed in a single SYSTEM.
