I just bought a 996 and I've programmed Mera into it.. I thought I've done it correctly but I'm not hearing any TG's either in scan or search mode.. Hearing the CC loud and clear. One blaring thing I see when entering the band plan in slots 0,1,2 is that the 996 isn't asking me for an offset, only the base and spacing. Could someone with a 996 give me some insight? Also should I tell the 996 this is a P25 system or a moto system?

thanks

Just checked it out with freeScan and when you select Mot UHF it gives you all the options.
hopes that helps.

Here's what the custom band plan looks like:

Code:
Lower Base: Upper Base: Offset: Step:
482.0000 484.3625 380 12.5
488.0000 490.1000 570 12.5
490.7250 490.9750 739 12.5

Beyond that, read the manual or try going to the Uniden forum and learn how to program a Motorola Type II (3600 baud) Smart Zone system with a custom band plan.

Inigo need your help man... I've got everything programmed, bandplan is in for both the east and west sites, strong CC channel but not hearing anything in scan or search mode... I don't know what I'm doing wrong.. I'm in SSF, I shouldn't be having a problem..

are you still doing this manually? if you have everything right like you say you have, it should be working.

Try just narrowing down your focus to the East Zone control channel (this carries all the system traffic anyway). Do "control channel only" mode and only program the primary and alternate CCs (tune to 489.075 or 488.70 manually and make sure you hear a strong control channel, otherwise it won't work). Make sure it's programmed as a Motorola VHF/UHF system, that the custom bandplan is programmed and monitor in ID SEARCH mode (not scan) and it should work.

Being all the way in SSF the most likely explanation is that you are just out of range of the East Zone (and the West Zone and intellirepeater sites just don't carry that much traffic).

East zone goes all the way to Palo Alto, although if OP is right south of San Bruno Mt, maybe is blocked a little?
