I guess I was half asleep when I did my ordering. I ordered a 1 gig ram instead of DOM. Installed it anyways and it works. Just ordered the DOM tonight. Will have to see what happens when i get it.

I guess my brain was fried.

Here is how I copied mine.

For the cloning I used;
Free Hard Disk Copy/Clone Software for PC & Server Hard Drive. Disk clone, disk backup, disk image and partition copy freeware.
Download the free Todo version and install it on your regular computer.

Open up Todo and go to build recovery media, you will need a USB thumb drive for it to put the image on. Build the image.

Once that is done you need a USB to IDE/SATA converter such as this;
FRYS.com | DIABLOTEK
The main thing you need for this project is going from USB to 2.5 IDE.

Plug your new 1gig drive into the cable adaptor thingy, power supply not used. Also plug in your thumb drive. You need to figure out how to change boot order. On my HP I think it was Del turning post screen. Then set USB highest in boot order.

From there boot it up, you should see Todo starting. Keep tracking of the sizes of your drives, you want to copy from 512mb to 1024mb while not overwriting your thumb (probably wont let you).

Give it a shot, i am at work so that is as best as I can remember it.

Justin

***. Edited post to reflect USB to SATA device I used .***

I purchased the tool you recommended. It will not work because the drive and the adapter both have female ends on them.

I swapped the hard drive out with a 1gig and was unable to copy the data from the old one to the new one due to having the wrong adapter. So i created a startup disk on usb key and then flashed the drive with the recommended XPE via other flash drive.

It says that it completed successfully and to remove the usb key and power cycle the system. When I do i get a blue screen of death saying hardware malfunction. I have tried to redo it several times and get the same BSOD.

I guess Ill try to remove the drive and put it back in and see if it wasnt seated properly or something.

If there is a problem with the drive wouldnt it tell me when I am flashing the drive with XPE?

Ok, to any that are still following this:

I reseated the hard drive and got XPE to load and it works. I flashed it with SP2 and it was very laggy and when I tried to load .net framework for that version of windows I always get the message that it is not a valid win32 application and it wont load.

I then flashed the drive with SP3 and its no longer laggy but when I try to load .net framework for that version of windows it has the same error (not a valid win32 application) and wont load.

I have tried to get several different .net packages to load and they are having the same problem. I also try to load scannercast and its saying the same error.

What am I doing wrong? anyone?

Hey Supraman, it's been a while since I've looked at this thread but I wanted to say congrats on getting your TC up and running. ;-)

It's definitely a challenge!

It works great. I am using it for my feed and magicjack voip phone service worth its weight in gold to me.

I setup teamviewer to access the tc if I need to change anything. I also put a program on it to force restart once a week. Im grateful for the help.
