HELP! xp drivers needed

i bought daughter a dell inspiron one 19 touchscreen

originally had windows 7 installed but she couldnt get on with it.
so like you do i installed xp pro sp2 but cant get any drivers.
ive read reports that it will run on xp with no problems but finding the drivers is a nightmare. ive emailed dell but because the comp was built around vista/7 they will not help.
managed to find ethernet driver


any help appreciated

chances are that because XP is not very much supported anymore... your going to have to go to a place like DriverGuide - XP Drivers, Windows 7 Drivers, Printer Drivers, Audio Drivers, CDROM Drivers, Network Drivers, USB Drivers, Device Drivers, Driver Downl get a subscription and get them from there.


OR..... if i can do it, i have a CD with pretty much all the KNOWN Generic drivers for most hardware. albeit i said MOST hardware, not ALL hardware. i would need to know the hardware in this touchscreen down to the PCI Bus and Northbridge chipset.


i can try to zip up the cd into a smaller version and you can extract the zip into its original content on your end, burn the cd and run it from there.

lemme see if it can be done.

When I had bought my laptop on eBay t came with this: Belarc Advisor - Free Personal PC Audit
Run that and see what you find. It was a fairly decent program.

let's see what the real issue is first. there's no reason to dump Win7 for WinXP. what do you mean by "can't get on"? if you're having issues with Win7, you're going to have more trying to get WinXP to run correctly.

might want to give driver genius a try.

Try the XP driver and see if it will work.

Looking at this page it seems like the driver would work in XP even though it says Vista and win 7. So... I would try the driver off Dells' web site. Use Vista as the OS type.

Finding this driver for XP is goig to be a crapchute. So I would try the Vista driver and see if it will work. One might have to mod the driver in order to make it run in XP. It might be a simple as renaming a few lines in the driver. I know that trick works for old addons for Firefox.

I cant imagine why anybody would dump win7 for XP...


XP was great in its time, But I have had very few issues with win7.
