I don't understand why when scanner stops in scanning mode on the Lompoc federal prison it makes that iratating trunking sound that you'd hear on a analog scanner, I thought you just input the zip code and your good to go.. no need to have to input a bunch of ID's ect.... Any help would be appreciated.. thanks

Two likely possibilities: The SmartZone system is now using digital voice (P25 CAI) while the database has the talkgroups listed as analog, or the system has been upgraded to P25, and no one has submitted the changes to the RRDB. That system has not been touched in the database for nearly 10 years, a lot can happen in that time. You'll need to do some sleuthing with the scanner to figure it out, but the 436 certain has the capability to let you figure out what is going on.

Are you seeing a talkgroup ID when it stops on that?

If you are only seeing a frequency (no talkgroup), what text are you seeing along with it on the display?

Have you updated the database in Sentinel, then downloaded that into the scanner?

The database used in Sentinel (and your scanner) is the same RadioReference database you see here on the site. But it is based on information submitted by members, based on what they are hearing in their area. If there is incorrect information online, it will be wrong in Sentinel, and your scanner, as well.
