so total newbie here....noobie...whatever. but i just recently purchased myself a Uniden Bearcat BC396XT and just have a few questions. mainly programming cause i already know how to change the color of my screen. (awesome) i would like to know how to listen in to a few services. i have the talkgroup numbers according to my scannerstuff so. cal frequency directory but that is as far as i get. as of now i just have a $500 radio. (i did find all my favorite radio stations) Any help would be greatly appreciated as far as how to use this monster. thank you for your time.

Anyway, download freescan , (it's FREE!) and import frequencies to your scanner directly from
The database here.

It's the easiest way to do it when your starting out.

thanks a bunch! so got the program and got really excited only to learn that my computer doesnt even have a serial connection to upload all the data to my scanner.....awesome. nothing a trip to frys cant fix right?

anywho i did a frequency search and didnt find a few key things i was looking for such as the orange pd system or brea/yorba linda. in fact i cant find much of orange county and was wondering if anyone had any info on this. i was also looking for Huntington beach, Irvine, and Anaheim pd

Take a look at the orange county system.

They are on that system, but they are all encrypted so you won't hear them.
