anyone have a sweeping signal around 2-3 mhz and then again up around 10-15 mhz?

Hi. I would bet that the signal is being generated in your own residence, or a close neighbor. what are you using for an antenna? Do you hear it every day? It is most likely
on 2-3 mhz. the next place you would hear it would be 6-9 then as you observed at 10-15.

The higher in frequency, the weaker the signal. This is known as odd-order harmonics of the fundamental signal. There are so many consumer electronics devices that you would have to go around and unplug stuff until the noise went away. Likely suspects: Plasma TV's, battery chargers, cd players, computers.

Consider locating the source as an intellectual exercise. Good Luck!

no it was heard and reported on another list we had it on 2-3 and probably had the harmonics off of that up higher as you mentioned... it was observed in ames and omaha and for the same thing to be observed 150 miles apart was kinda interesting but whatever it was it probably was in the immediate region....

I am trying to think that there was a news story about 5-7 years ago about that orange radar that spins in Bellevue like near the pool on Lincoln street I think it is. It was causing some interferance to some stuff and you never really know what they're up to.

Do you have a recording of it? I don't have any equipment that goes that low for HF. I stop at 30MHz. =\

That radar that you are referring to is for approach control for Eppley and OAFB. The FAA has the local control center located near the North gate of Offutt. I got a tour there once, a long time ago. I suspect that the public is no longer welcomed there.

As far as Yoko's stuff he is receiving. I am pretty sure the Russians haven't had any OTHR for a long while now. I know there is some university doing ionosphere studies in Alaska on HF. I'll Google "HAARP" and check out the frequencies of operation. I'm pretty sure that it is still there.

R90 yeah that radar aint not the same as othr

yeah the russians pretty much sold it to the chinese

HAARP is still there and theyre pretty good at not causing interference, they dont do the wideband sweep that this thing is doing.... 30-35 khz sweeps

I haven't listened to shortwave for many years...my Zenith transoceanic receiver needs a tube that is apparently not available any longer. Also, I retubed it with a couple of tubes made in eastern Europe, and it has never been the same...but I digress.

I read something a while back about the Chinese jamming shortwave transmissions from Tiawan. The frequencies you describe are possibilities. I don't know for a fact that variable frequency sweeps are what the Chinese are using...but I am sure someone more knowledgable than I would know.

I am sure that the "30-35 KHz sweeps" rule out OTHR or other research transmitters.

Sure sounds like jamming to me.

I couldn't find what freq's HAARP was using. sorry. Probably not them anyway...regards
