Noise is a problem for ferreting out faint HF signals . . . local electronic noise, atmospheric noise.

Based on your experience, which receivers (could be the receiver in a transceiver) have impressed you with their ability to handle/process noise to make signals easier to hear?

Please note: I am not interested in "theoreticals" here; I want to hear about your actual experience, and if you have had the opportunity to compare receivers in real-world operation, all the better.

Airspy discovery HF+ with SDR#, at least at times, is to my ears the best HF, NR that I have used for HF SSB, at times. At times, it has allowed me decode with my ears voice signals that I could not understand due to the noise floor on 40 or 80 meters. However, at least in my use, it does not always seem as great as at other times, but it is never bad. I’m not sure yet why it works better or worse for me at different times, but in any event, I am impressed.

Elecraft K3S...
I agree. I have an original K3 upgraded to an S and the DSP is soo good I don't use RF gain, just enable the NR at the right level and I can listen to that all day with no fatigue. My Icom 7610 has pretty good DSP NR but the audio level takes a hit and you have to turn the volume up to compensate. Then turn it back down when the NR is off.

Would the Elecraft QRP rig have the same level of DSP?

Totally agree on that ...on the 7610 abt the volume control but the DSP to me is excellent ..73,s Marcy

Sorry has nothing to do with what KB2GOM asked but just to add the NB with the Noise Reduction is really good I have a Electric fence about 150 ft behind me and they both help alot..
