Estes Park was just advised by dispatch that they may loose there paging system because one of the towers was taken out by the fire. I haven't heard any chatter from the Rist canyon tac chs in a little while so I'm wondering if the towers got hit. I no longer have a digital so I can't tell if Buckhorn is still sending out signal.

Just heard that Estes fire and EMS was told that one of the radio towers was lost due to the fire and this will effect paging of calls.

I also noticed the radio traffic has fallen off a great deal over the last 15 to 20 min. So Tell me again how great digital radio systems are. I think NOT.

Fire has burned past radio towers on buckhorn, has not burned the towers, however there is no electricity on the site and they are running on back up generators for a short time period.

DTRS info

TAC 4 has some encripted radio transmissions but it is linked to MAC 5 NE where all traffic in in the clear.

http://gacc.nifc.gov/rmcc/dispatch_...ide 2012 small Font 1 FIXED print flip up.pdf

2012 list of Colorado air to ground freqs is on page 62

Since they are past "initial attack" now at the Risk Canyon Fire, and using the tertiary air to ground freq apparently (167.95), then the map will mostly show you what freqs they will NOT be using at the fire.

To back up a step - I think the way this map works is - for initial attack on a fire, the map shows the primary and secondary AG freqs for various sections of Colorado. If a fire burns into the 2nd burning period (2nd day), then the fire is assigned new air to ground freqs (from a pool of spare freqs), and the freqs on the map then become available to use on any new fires that break out on day 2.
