02/20 – At 15:23 Littleton & South Metro Firefighters were dispatched to a structure fire at 10046 Strathfield Lane. First due Engine 17 reported smoke showing from the rear and assumed command. After further investigation a working basement fire was declared and an 1 3/4″ attack line was advanced to the front door. Second arriving Engine 15 & Medic 15 secured a water supply and pulled a back up line. Engine 17 reported an injured firefighter at the front door, outside of the structure and requested assistance. An additional medic unit was requested emergent. Battalion Chief 34 assumed command and assigned Battalion Chief 1 to the Charlie Division. Engine 14 was assigned as RIT and assisted the injured firefighter who was removed from the hazard area and transported non-emergent to a local hospital. Companies found a compromised first floor and were unable to make entry. With high winds pushing the flames a defensive strategy was declared and exposure protection was put in place on the bravo & delta sides. A 2 1/2″ was pulled to the charlie side for attack and Squirt 18′s aerial was raised for master stream operations. Squirt 12 was special called to the scene and also set up for aerial operations. Engine 16 was also special called and laid a second supply line into the scene. The fire quickly traveled from the basement to the first floor, through the second, into the attic and through the roof. The fire was controlled within the hour and no extension to the exposures occurred. The residents safely evacuated without injury and one family pet was reported missing.
